Mara
Dogs and cats are available from the animal shelters, at easily affordable prices, so please, do yourself a favour and check what they have available. Oh and by the way, it is not just adult dogs and cats that they have, they often have puppies and kittens. Here are the contacts for those of you that are in Melbourne.http://www.lortsmith.com/http://www.rspca.org.au/?gclid=COfUo9SYzZYCFQsQagod9yI3wghttp://users.ssc.net.au/ingridshaven/http://www.dogshome.com/http://www.ozdoggy.com.au/dog_rescue_organisations.htmlhttp://www.petrescue.com.au/http://www.winterpaws.com.au/http://www.aaps.org.au/linksevent/linksb.html

polly
Thank you. We will hopefully be able to get a pet in the next year or two (not a cat! allergic)
Jeanne
I was really shocked to see what dogs cost in Aus, I saw an ad the other day for a jack russel for $500!
Mara
Hi JeanneI agree, pets are expensive, you have no choice but to pay if you want a pedigreed animal. I know, I have two purebred Balinese cats! The thing is, you often get pedigreed animals from the shelters as well, people buy them, then find they are too much trouble, and just offload them at the shelter. Kurkprop
Kurkprop, what a gorgeous animal, she has such soulful eyes! Thanks Mara. I call that her "Princess Diana look". She puts it on for visitors when she tries to convince them that we never feed her
Mara
Mmmmmm, I know that feeling, my cats sit and stare at the visitors, humming 'feed us filet steak' hoping that their dream will come true!
