Sarel Seemonster
Hi,I have been an independent IT consultant in Canada and South Africa for the last 10 years. I will be in OZ soon and was wondering how independent consultants set themselves up to be tax efficient and to ensure proper liability cover. In SA in those years I just applied for a tax directive and I was taxed at a flat rate of about 25%. In Canada however I had to incorporate in order to get mentionable tax benefits. For liability reasons incorporation was also the best way to go.Any advice will be greatly appreciatedRegardsSarel
Ajay
Hi,I'm pretty sure you need to get an ABN (company registration number) in order to be able to write off any expenses to tax. Check out the ATO site for more information, I'd advise.AJay
