SeanK
I suffer from a bi - polar condition and have been in treatment for years. In SA it is listed on the schedule of mandatory medication supply by government. Does anyone know what the situation is regarding mental health in Oz?

Kerry-Lea
Hi SeanAs long as you declare it on your medical I dont see what the problem is. It sounds like you have managed the conidtion well and are in a good routine regarding your meds (always the most important thing with bi-polar).I see no reason why the condition should pose any problem to your entry into Aus, or why you wouldnt be able to get the same, if not better treatment there.I would suggest that you start getting together reports on your medical history from your GP and specialists. Although I'm sure the docs in Aus will want to do thier own examination, I'm sure a medical history will really help.We are in a similar situation with my sons medication for ADHD.Perhaps there are others that have been through something similar can help? SHIRLS
Should not be a problem Sean and you must definitely declare it.I have good friends near Brisbane who's daughter is Bi-Polar and she was in her early 20's when they arrived in OZ,she was listed as a dependant even though she was 20 already and had a baby daughter.I can try and find out for you what her treatment has been like there but when I saw her last year she was doing exceptionally well.PM me if you want more info !Keep the jokes coming ! Albert&Era
I suffer from a bi - polar condition and have been in treatment for years. In SA it is listed on the schedule of mandatory medication supply by government. Does anyone know what the situation is regarding mental health in Oz?Hi SeanK. I am also concerned how a bi-polar condition is seen in Oz and how it may effect our application. To date I have not been able to find out more on the subject, but noticed that you are further with your application than us. I will greatly appreciate if we can stay in contact on this and possibly learn from one another. My e-mail is albertd3@absamail.co.za if you are interested - just drop me a note and we will take it from there. RegardsAlbert
