Working....without restriction????

Hi

Im new to the forum and plan on leaving for Australia as soon as all the paperwork is approved etc.

I was looking thru the forums and noticed in a few topics that the following words regulary appear "working without restriction"

What does this mean exactly and what are the kind of restriction that I can expect. I work in Angola on a 3 month rotation due to AA restriction in South Africa, is this something similar in Aurtralia.

My field is Telecoms specialising in the SDH and VSAT and Microwave side of things and I have applied for a skills shortage visa. My wife is handeling the paperwork from South Africa due to me working away all the time

On a side note, since my wife and I decided to leave for Australia I have been suprised by the amount of people we are running into that are also leaving South Africa. I really had no idea how badly folks want out of South Africa. I was under the impression that there was only a small amount of South Africans wanting to leave. Not so.

In Angola alone besides myself I know of 5 South Africans that will be leaving within the next 3 months for Australia.

Thanks for any help and hopefully I will be in Australia sooner than later

Hi Jollyjumper - welcome to the forum!

Work restrictions vary depending on the type of visa you have. For example, on a 457 (employer sponsored), you are restricted to only work for that employer for the duration of that visa. If you are on a Regional Sponsored visa, you are resticted to working within a certain area. Check out what kind of visa you are applying for and then you can see whether any restrictions apply - many don't have any restrictions at all.

Best of luck

Ajay

Hi jollyjumper :ilikeit:

Welcome to the forum. I hope you will find all the answers you need here. Do you have any idea where in Australia you will be settling?

All the best.

Hi jollyjumper,

Welcome to the forum!

You will find lots of advice here, and what Ajay said about the visa types is quite correct. It has absolutely no relation to AA restrictions, and even though we have restrictions (457), it is still worth it for us.

Greetings,

Dreamy

Aiming for Brisbane but for a start anywhere in Australia will be great. Unfortunatly I dont know anyone in Australia so me and my wife had to do all our research blindly and with minimal advice. We have sortve fallen in love with the entire east coast so I recon that should be a great starting point.

The main thing is my son will have a future and we will be a family again
