Hey there!

Hubby and I are doing our LSD (or should I say LS as the decision has already been made!) next month. As we will only be in Perth for 3 days we need to be very organised. I'm looking for tips and ideas from the SAfers as to what would be a 'must' to see or do? My hubby is an Electrical Engineer so we would also like to find out about job / business opportunities.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Hi Foncused

My neighbour is look for an electrical engineer. If you and your hubbie would like to get together on the 16th March, you hubbie can see what job is being offered and we ladies can have a chat and kill 2 birds with 1 stone. My neighbour is also an ex saffer.

If you are interested, can you PM me or email me on cugno@bigpond.com as my neighbour would like to see your husbands resume.

Thanks

Enrica

all I can say is: plenty plenty jobs... you shouldn't have to pick the first one you come across...

Rio, BHP, Worley, TWP, GHD, Engenium, Evans&Peck, ProMet, SNC Lavelin, Hatch... the list goes on... Google them all, contact them all, they'll probably all want to speak to you...

Hi

My husband is also an electrical engineer, working in the field of systems engineering and control systems. There are lots of companies. Depending what your husband does, it pays to contact the right companies. Smaller companies might sponsor you quicker than the ones like Rio Tinto etc, because there, you are just a CV on the HR persons desk. We had no response from those companies. If your husband is also in the systems and controls business, contact me, see what we can do. I am also willing to help out with your LSD, maybe meeting you or something. PM me if you are interested. Theres lots to do in Perth, depends on what your interests are.

My husband currently owns his own company here in Jozie where he refurbishes Transformers and Mini Subs etc. He specialises in Transformers and Electrical Reticulation. Prior to this (10yrs ago) he worked in the mining industry. What companies would be good to contact?

Thanks for the input!!!!

Hi, there is a lady that has been incredibly helpful with us wrt finding a job - she is usually given large 'orders', e.g. the company will ask her to find actuaries, or engineers, or electricians, etc. Her name is Sandy Prevost - I will check what her e-mail address and send it to you. If there is a business opportunty or job, she will know about it. She is in Melbourne, but makes placements all over Aus. She is looking to place me in Brisbane. I will get back to you on this.
