When I started on this forum, all these abbreviations had me in turmoil. :lol: So I compiled a list. Feel free to add more abbreviations!

Australian Migration process abbreviations:

DIMA: Department of Immigration & Multicultural Affairs, but has changed to -

Oooooh - can I add forum-speak here? Most forums use specific abbreviations which makes chatting and messaging a lot faster and easier.

Here are some of the very commonly used abbreviations: (I will add more as I think of them)

KWIM - Know what I mean

IMO - In my opinion

IMHO - In my honest opinion

DW - Darling wife

DH - Darling husband (or damn husband! :blush: )

SO - Significant other

LO - Little one

TFL - Thanks for looking

LOL - Laughing out loud

ROTFL - Rolling on the floor laughing

Sorry to be the English police but these are technically acronyms. Abbreviations are things like etc, ex. :ilikeit:

Just remember not to put LSD on your landing card under reason for travelling to Australia! It will get you a lengthy delay and possibly a body search.............lol
