A little Explanation: Events forums are only for announcing an event (when you get told about it, read about it, or) after it gets finalized after discussion in the relevant Community forum. So while you are chatting among one another, you do it in the Community forum. Once you know when and where, put it in the Events folder, and the host for that state will pick it up, and put it on the calendar so folks can see what's on the slab in the coming 2 months (bottom of front page).Hope that helps a little.
