Hi everybody, I have compiled a shortlist (ha! it is only 34 suburbs short ) of suburb options. Please advise/criticise/comment/warn/advocate... Ok, just some background. I will be working in Melbourne CBD, so I compiled this list based on commute to the closest train station (Southern Cross) to my work, homely rankings, previous comments on the forum, and a number of other website rankings. Castle Hill & Cherrybrook, Sydney: honest info on commute / transport
FionaS posted a topic in Settling In
Hello People-in-the-Know re: Sydney Upper North suburbs (specifically Castle Hill & Cherrybrook) So - we're finally here in Sydney and loving it so far. We've been here nearly 2 weeks and we still have so much to get organised before our 40ft container arrives at the end of September! Most importantly, we need to find a home of our own. Rental. We are staying with friends in their Cherrybrook home whilst we look for a rental property of our own. We are falling in love with this area (as well as Castle Hill) due to the villagey-feel and the seeming good bang-for-buck- 5 replies

Hi, I have looked at previous posts regarding recommended suburbs, but I am looking for more specific details, if possible. 1) What are good suburbs in Melbourne for a family with kids? We need to consider day care for now, but also schools very soon. I will be working in the CBD, Docklands region. @Mara, You say very nice things about Sunbury, but from Google Maps it looks like about 40mins both by car and train. Is this true for peak times as well? You had a very informative post where you listed Braybrook for example as an area to be avoided. Is this still applicable?
