  1. Hi, Is there anyone on the forum that was able to obtain a vault birth certificate? Apparently this document is the original document that is filled in when you are born. I saw on the internet that you can request this. But I see that they said it is also difficult to get hold of. My father passed away when I was a baby. My mother remarried was I was 10 and handed his death certificate in at the magistrates court. Hence I have no ID number for my dad. The lady at Home Affairs said that I need to have his ID / Death Certificate to apply for my unabridged birth certificate. I've checked property information for him on Windeed, but the house he owned only have documentation dated back to 1980. The hospital where I was born can't help either. I'm going to try and find out if the grave register might have his ID number. I don't know what else to do. Maybe I can obtain a vault birth certificate, hopefully they will accept that. Please let me know if you did receive a vault certificate, I don't want to spend all that money just to hear they couldn't find it.
  2. Hi Everyone, I'm a new member to the forum and have been in Australia for the last 5 months. I'm South African by birth but a New Zealand citizen through immigration. I'm after any information about applying for an apostilled unabridged birth certificate from Australia. Has anyone had experience with this process? Information online points towards applying through the SA High Commission in Canberra however it takes 3-9 months for it process and there is no guarantee that all the documents will be correct. Some of the posts here suggest using Bunnyhop? but unsure if they tender to needs of South Africans living abroad. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Hi All, I'm so happy today you'd think our VISAs have been granted. After a long wait (over year) and doubts as to whether I was born, created in a laboratory or just "poofed" into existence My unabridged birth certificate is finally ready for collection! One step closer to the end of the application process. Just a reminder to all the people thinking of applying for a VISA. Apply for all the documents you need from the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) well in advance! They say it takes 8 weeks but you can bargain on 58 (worse case scenario, which also happened to be mine). For people having to wait longer than the allocated time here are e-mail addresses to direct your query to: csc@dha.go,za minister@dha.gov.za neo.mashigo@dha.gov.za patrick.williams@dha.gov.za The csc email address gave the quickest and most professional responses. Hope this helps.
  4. Hi everyone I am having major diffculty getting my daughter's passport (and birth registration). I was wondering if anybody has lodged whilst leaving a dependant off the application. Then added them to the application (via form 1022) once the required documents arrive. Obviously there's a huge financial risk involved if the decision gets made before you have added them (Double visa fees), and then in that the risk of their visa being refused if you have to apply for them seperately. I'm just wondering if it is possible...
