Sydney suburbs with good public (primary) schools

Hello, I'm new to the board and have been lurking for some time now, reading threads etc, as we prepare for a move to Sydney next year. I've found the threads very helpful and also eye-opening. We now have an imminent LSD trip and are hoping to check out some neighbourhoods and if possible, some public schools (is that even a done thing?) for our kids who are 4 and 6. My wife and I have looked at maps, RealEstate.com.au, Google Maps (for transit time) and Better Education to try to work out areas where we might consider moving to given the price, commute time to the c- 20 replies

Hi everyone, I am a planner and with our LSD trip scheduled for July, would like to try visit one or two schools while we are there. I would appreciate any comments on our shortlist of suburbs and schools based on either personal experience or things you have heard. Perhaps even a comparison to similar suburbs in Johannesburg or Cape Town. Our choice of suburbs has been driven primarily by our daughter's plan to attend Deakin University in Burwood next year, as well as relative proximity to the CBD. Public transport is also important. Hi everybody, I have compiled a shortlist (ha! it is only 34 suburbs short ) of suburb options. Please advise/criticise/comment/warn/advocate... Ok, just some background. I will be working in Melbourne CBD, so I compiled this list based on commute to the closest train station (Southern Cross) to my work, homely rankings, previous comments on the forum, and a number of other website rankings. Hi all, We decided that it makes sense for us to go and live in South Africa again for a time - business and personal reasons. We are moving at the end of October 2012 after 4 great years in Australia (Adelaide and Perth) where we have met many wonderful people and made life long friends.
