Ek wil binnekort aansoek by ACS doen, het BSc, 6 jaar VB en 1 jaar C# ondervinding. Het iemand met soortgelyke ondervinding dalk al aansoek gedoen en wat was julle ondervindings? Deel asb "tips & techniques".

Hi Godan,

Ek het verlede jaar my ACS assessment gedoen, het Bsc Computer Science graad by Tukkies, en 7 jaar werk ondervinding. Meestal VB6, SQL, VB.Net, C#, ASP.Net en mobile development in .Net.

Applicants should attach employer references to their application. These should be on company letterhead and include the job title, a brief job description and precise dates of employment. They should also clearly state whether employment was full or part-time along with demonstrated levels of competence with any computer languages, the various types of hardware and software used and the extent of involvement with any major projects. Letters of appointment or contracts are not accepted

Dankie vir die info!

Ek was ook by Tuks en het reeds my sertifikaat laat vertaal, maar nou eers besef ek moet vra vir detail - punte en vakke. Tuks admin was baie behulpsaam.

Wens ek het geweet van die "employer references", dan kon ek daarvoor gevra het toe ek van werk verander het.

Ek doen SQL en .NET en bly ook in Centurion... Klein wêreld

Haai daar almal. Ek het ook die ACS skills assessment gedoen. Maar ek moes die RPL roete doen omdat ek Elektroniese Ingenieurswese gedoen het in plaas van 'n suiwer rekenaarwetenskap. Ek hou my blog gedurig op datum en het vandag ALLES wat ons reeds in hierdie emmigrasieproses tot dusver gedoen het insluitende die dokumente wat ek bymekaargekry het vir ACS daarop breedvoerig uiteengesit:

Hi all

I have also gone the ACS RPL route. I have no degree just some courses and experience. The RPL route is probably more work but can be done. So if any one want some more info on the matter please feel free to pm me I will gladly assist to where I can.

P.S. I started in VB6 and moved to .Net. I have a MCSD and some other courses and Yes I got a Positive assessment so a degree is not required it just makes it easier.

You can call it the "full monty" of ACS assessments. I could have taken the $350 chance and only do a skills assessment, but I did not want ANYTHING to stand in my way, so I opted for the $400 option of a full RPL.

Anyone with a non-IT degree should seek professional assistance in determining whether or not an RPL is necessary.

I've seen enough cases where people tried to "run the gauntlet" by avoiding the RPL with a non-IT degree. Some do end up having to do the RPL after a negative assessment.

As I don't read Afrikaans, I don't know what the original message is about. However, I do see through dozens of RPL cases a year, and would be happy to help the original posters if need be.

Hi there

We submitted Tim's ACS application today (an RPL one) – hallelujah!

We initially did the project letters, filled in the RPL form and CBOK, then sent it to our agent to check. They came back to us and told us that we needed to do some serious revision – it wasn't nearly comprehensive enough.

One website we came across that was very helpful was www.rplhelp.co.uk. It's run by a UK guy who got a positive result on his RPL application. He gives you good advice and he also sells an assortment of examples of successful RPL applications for different specialisations (with any confidential info removed, of course!) for a fee.

There are also examples of his references you could have a look at (for free), in case you're chasing employers for them and want to know what they should include.

Good day All

I agree with Tim & Abby to get a certified copies of paper work, your unabridged birth certifiate, as well as references of previous work!

I received a positive assessment from the ACS November 2006, and they wanted all of these. Then they requested reports of various tasks/projects as examples for work.. So be prepared for this too. Overall they just want to know that you can do the work they assessing you for.

Has anyone had the experience or know of anyone who has submitted their skills to ACS who has a CISSP. My hubby is a IT Auditor and has work in IT security he has a CISSP and CISA. We would obviously like to get accepted as a CISSP as it is on the demand list and we have 2 years work experience in Aus so we will get extra points. The whole CISSP certification seems very unclear and exact years work experience and requirements are hard to clarify anyone been this route?

The ACS accepts your passport details page (the one with your photo) in lieu of your birth certificate. All the ACS want to do is to prove your identity, not find out your parents' names :-)

But a birth certificate for the ACS is fine as well.

The CISSP is acceptable for MODL on a face value basis. That's all that's needed for CISSP.

You'll need to check your degree for equivalency to an Australian qualification, and then check to see if your degree is "IT enough" to escape the dreaded RPL.

Some agents here do offer free initial assessments, so you may want to avail yourself to those services.

I specialize in IT assessments, but I do levy a nominal initial assessment fee, which I understand can be off-putting to some people.

I would lodge any ACS or visa application as soon as eligible or according to your own circumstances.

I also have a BComm Informatics (Honours - but dont believe this was really a factor), with 5 years business analysis experience. I did not do the RPL, and have successully passed the ACS assessment.

The honours by itself may not have mattered much, but the subjects you took for your honours year (I'm assuming it's an extra year to get honours) may have tilted the balance when the ACS determined whether your degree was Group A, B or otherwise.

Anyone that applied with an IT Diploma?

I saw ACS is presenting a diploma, and the one I did seem to be on par with the one form ACS. Will my diploma and 9 years experiance in IT be enough?
