Where to stay in Canberra

Time is running out, or is it running in-to-Canberra.

We will be arriving at about 18h00 on 19 Jan 2011 and need advise on planning the first couple of days.

Do you have any suggestions on where to stay the first couple of nights?

The plan is to get a vehicle and to find longer term accomodation (based on comments on "Best (and worst) areas in Canberra) but where do we base ourselves during this process.

What should we do the first couple of days?

Hi

Have a look at http://www.canberrafurnished.com.au/rates/special-offers/ , http://www.hotelformule1.com/gb/hotel-3505...rra/index.shtml or google long stay accommodation Canberra. the Formula 1 is most probably the cheapest place to stay, It is in the North. Unfortunately I do not personally know of any "cheap" accommodation. If you find something I can

I can fetch you from the Airport and are welcome to dinner on the Wednesday night. I can also take you around on the Saturday look at area or rental properties. We can connect on http://www.facebook.com/terencepalmerau. You can have a look at www.allhomes.com.au and even plan your trip to rentals.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Terence

We stayed here. It was OK But SMALL. If we were on holiday it would not seem so small but with 12 suitcases it cramped things up a bit!

It was on a bus route, close to the Westfield Belconnen Mall and close to town centre.

I must admit that I could not find any cheap accommodation either :-)

Get used to it, I heard on the radio on Friday that Canberra is now officially more expensive to rent in than Sydney.

Many thanks to Pieter and Terence.

Thank you for picking us up at the airport.

The administration of www.canbhol.com.au is also good.

The Griffith apartment that we booked for 2 weeks is fairly small (for 2+1 + 17 bags).

They have, inspite of being fairly fully booked, swaped apartemnts and we can now move to Ainslie - which we will do tomorrow.

Today was arranging the swop and the bank. Tomorrow is reserved for meeting the ladies from ACT that approved our StateSponsorship and getting wheels.

Thanks Louise,

We will contct you tomorrow. (Saturday)

Yes, please for the SIM.

We purchased a vehicle today, will only get it next week but the company gave us a vehicle (Full tank of petrol) to use until then.

It was a long walk down Melrose drive but it ended with success.
