VISAS GRANTED

Our visas 475 to SA was awarded on 20/7/09 to my honest surprise! What now? We are both exited and confused at the same time. I am planning on flying over during September 2009 to investigate job oppertunities (I have been a practice manager at a law firm in Pretoria for the past 14 years (BComm Financial Management) and to find the best goverment schools in Adelaide to establish where we should settle (at least rent a apartment/ house)

temp. untill we have settled in. I would really apprecaite your input as to where to stay when we go to Adelaide initially and what would be a suitable school for my daugters, aged 16 and 14. The plan at the moment would be for me and the girls to go over during December 2009 and test the water. If we are able to get PR my husband will follow in due course.

Hi Sally

Congratulations! Exciting times ahead ...!! Look at the "Communities" section (Adelaide) - it's very useful on schools and suburbs. All the best for the planning and big move.

Hi Sally

Congrats on the visa :(

You can take up the governent accomadation if they have a place for you. Or you can find alternative short term accomadation. To find a rental without a job and from this side will prove to be difficult but cheaper unfortunatly you have to be at the rental as far as I know to be able to rent it..what suburbs you should look at would be difficult to say where do you want to live in town or near the beach? Check out places like Hallett Cove heard nice things about it...we will be staying in Morphett Vale when we arrive....here is a few links you can look at the one is a llist of suburbs and the other schools:

http://www.adelaidesuburbs.com.au/

http://www.decs.sa.gov.au/locs/

http://www.roorentals.com.au/ - short term rental

http://homesdownunder.com.au/ - short term rental

I hope this help a bit we are not there yet so I don't have anymore information..maybe PM "RED" on the forum or "DesireeB" they are both in Adelaide.

Good luck with all the planning.

Hi Sally

Welcome to the adventure.

Are you aware when you get PR on a 475 visa and the conditions therein?

PM me if you need some special advice.

Thanks

Desiree

Hi

Try this post – the member sits with roughly the same question.

http://www.saaustralia.org/index.php?showtopic=25052

(maybe you could have a chat with them)

If you come over on LSD get a feel for all the places and then see what the rentals is like in the area you would like to stay / school in.

If you come over is Dec stay in a cheap place and get a rental in the area that you want to stay in. To rent for 1 – 2 months just to then look and move to the place you want to school / stay in is going to be hard work and expensive.

Then – there is a Dutch reform church in Campbell town in the north east that has a lot of ex-South Africans.

Come and say hallo while on your LSD.

Hope it help

Jaco
