Popular Post zamunda
This is about someone we met and made friends with when we were in Oz last year. Thought his story might be inspirational to some (certainly is to me). This person (not from RSA) migrated to Oz eight years ago. His wife was the main applicant. She is a nurse and found work soon after they landed in Oz. He was a part qualified accountant and could not find work due to his part qualification and also because his qualification was not recognised in Oz.He did not have money to put him self through school. His wife's salary was not enough to make ends meet so he got him self a job as a cleaner. Working at night he found that he had the entire day to do something else. So he started book keeping for people for a small fee. With the money he put him self through school and got himself an Oz accounting qualification.Despite the qualification he could not find a job due to the lack of adequate Oz experience. So he got a volunteer job at an accounting firm but kept his night job as he needed the money. The volunteer job gradually turned into a paying job and he gave up his night job.A few years later he quit his job and started his own accounting firm. He started with three clients (friends) and went back to his night cleaning job to supplement his reduced income.Today his firm has close to 800 clients. He at times jokes that he has adequate experience to start a cleaning business

OubaasDik
Very nice that this bounced to the top again. Many people were getting very antsy about the other thread about how difficult it is to find a job. Shows what determination can do. (With a lot of hard work)

miraclebabycaw
Our estate agents Sister and Brother in law did something similar. They arrived 15 years ago. He was a qualified plumber but could not find work. They lived for 6months with 3 children in a caravan, while she worked cleaning toilets and he did anything and everything he could get his hands on at first. Eventually he got a job. Today he runs 2 plumbing businesses and they are worth a fortune with houses in Perth and a retirement home in Adelaide. not saying we will all get to this stage, but with hard work, all things are possible.
