Carlabez94
Hi all, I got referred to this website by a friend. My boyfriend and I are looking to immigrate to Australia next year, but have no idea where to start and what the process is. It would be ideal for us to get n work beforehand so we can apply for a work Visa? I did my SAIPA honours and finish with my articles in January 2021. As for my partner, he completed his degree in BA human movement science and psychology and is currently employed as a strength and conditioning coach at a high school. Any advice will me very much appreciated:)
Riekie
You will probably go the skilled migration route. A good starting point is here: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/what-we-do/skilled-migration-program First check if your skill is on the Skilled Occupations list here: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list Then take it from there. You can do it on your own or involve a migration agent. If it is a straight forward application, then go for it yourself, otherwise it is a good idea to at least consult an agent for more complicated applications. Make sure the agent is registered with OMARA - you can check here: https://www.mara.gov.au/search-the-register-of-migration-agents/ There is also a lot of members on this forum that could answer specific questions you may have (it's a bit hard to answer a how do we do it type questions as it is too involved - maybe narrow it down to specifics when you get to that point). There are options for regional, state and employer sponsorships but you'll have provisions on your visa that you would need to meet once the visa is granted. First see if you qualify on your own if you do not want to be held down by any of that. Although, so many members were granted regional visas for instance and they love where they live and how it turned out, so don't discount it. This should get you going. Good luck!
