Question regarding approved "panel physician" for medical assessment

Marcus1986

Question

Good day all.

My wife and I are in the final stages of uploading our supporting documents on Immi-account for subclass 189 visa. The final item we need to provide is a medical assessment.

However, we live in the Cayman Islands and there is no approved panel physician listed here as per the Aus Department of Home Affairs. The closest approved panel physician is in either Kingston, Jamaica or Florida, USA. Besides being an expensive and time consuming exercise to travel to these places for a medical, we are currently unable to leave Cayman Islands indefinitely due to COVID.

Has anybody heard of ways to do the medical in cases where there is no approved physician in the country?

Any other advice?

Many thanks for any assistance anyone can provide.

M

Generally not (some limited variation occasionally) where there is no Panel Physician in the country as you are aware you would normally be required to travel to attend a provider.

Currently, in situations where there is a genuine reason (such as the impact of COVID-19 on travel) that you are unable to provide the Medical within the required time frame you would generally be provided with an extension of the time provided.

We were in the Cayman Islands and did not go off islsnd. We used the doctor for Canadian immigration. It was all accepted. With saying that it was a few years ago. Unfortunately I cant remember the doctor.

Edit to add. It was dr else Christoffersen from cayman doctors in the west shore centre
