Recommended Posts

Shazzy

Hi All,

I just wanted to find out from anyone who has been for a LSD trip, how much money would be recommended to take with to have a comfortable trip for about 2 weeks excluding flights.

Im also interested to know this. We leave next week Monday for a trip just over 2 weeks and currently have R30k for spending. Is it enough ?

All depends if your accommodation is already covered. A motel can cost $125 a night or $250 per night, depends if you are two or 4 people, hotels can be more in major cities. Expenses can be limited if you do not eat out all the time, rather self cater, etc. So depending where  you go or what you want to explore, another $150 to $250 a day may be required. R30k for 14 days is $3,000 or  only $214 per day over 14 days so that is pretty tight if you have to pay for accommodation, transport and other expenses.

For those on a really tight budget.... Cheapest 'meal' has got to be Hungry Jack's Super Stunner meal (Cheeseburger, Fries, Coke, 3 Nuggets, Drumstick) for $6.45

For 'normal' folk, I'd probably grab a pub meal somewhere between $15 and $40

If you have a couple of beers/glasses of wine, that could easily jump to $100 per meal....

Most activities are between $30 and $50

When we host friends/family, we generally spend about $100 per person per day for a light lunch and an activity/outing.

So is R30k enough if all airfare , accommodation and car rental is already paid for ?

Some tips

- fast food is cheap here

-eating out is expensive (at least double what you would pay in SA)

- if you getting a taxi or Uber form the airport - depending where you visit could be up to $150 just in Sydney if you ask them to take tolls

- use pubic transport if you can (cheap and free for smaller kids)

-if visiting a zoo (or similar attraction)   look for online deals vs paying there (normally much cheaper)   Also Groupon is still around here and you might get some good deals

-gardens and parks and museums are normally free/cheap to visit and very impressive if you are fresh of the the boast (Aussies take it for granted ...;-)
