nanettedv
Hi Can anyone tell me what the route to Australia is via NZ? How long do you need to stay in NZ before having the option to move to AUS and how does that work? I'm sure someone else must have asked this before, but I could not find such a post on the forum. HappyIsland
If you have a NZ work permit, you can apply for NZ PR status after 2 years. After 5 years of living in NZ, you can apply for citizenship. Once you're a citizen, you can live and work in Australia indefinitely. You can also apply for an Australian PR visa. TeeTMI
As above NZ citizens, of good character, can live and work in Australia on the subclass 444 visa. I work with quite a few NZers who are looking for Australian PR for a variety of reasons. Currently unless NZ citizens are eligible for one of the options that require the NZ citizen to have been living in / visited Australia at least prior to 19th February 2016 (there are a variety of options/;criteria relating to different circumstances and legislation over time) then currently NZ citizens wanting Australian PR would generally be looking at the applying for similar visas to other international applicants (there are currently a few concessions given to NZ citizens).
