TeeTMI
SkillSelect 16th November 2019 Points Test Changes (additional point categories) We have a Points Calculator based on the New SkillSelect Points categories due to commence on 16th November 2019. The NEW/Changed points categories include: 10 points (increased from 5 points): applicants with a Skilled spouse/de facto partner (<45, +Competent English, + positive skills assessment - occupation must be on the same skilled occupation list) 10 points: applicants with no spouse/de facto partner or who's partner is an Australian citizen or holds PR 5 points: applicants with a spouse/de facto partner with Competent English 15 points (the new Subclass 491 temporary Regional visa, replacing the 489 visa): applicants nominated by a State or Territory, or who are sponsored by a suitable family member (491 visa). 10 points (increased from 5 points): main applicants with eligible Australian 'Specialist (STEM) Educational qualifications'. Where visa applicants have the same number of points EOIs will be prioritised in the following manner. Equal First: primary applicants with a skilled spouse or de facto partner primary applicants without a spouse or de facto partner Second - Primary applicants with a spouse or de facto partner who can demonstrate competent English but does not have the skills for skilled partner points (age and skills) Third - Primary applicants with a partner who is ineligible for either competent English or Skilled partner points. These applicants will be ranked below all other cohorts, if all other points claims are equal. The DHA have not yet announced whether there will be a change on the minimum points requirement: currently 65. However, once these additional points come into play the dynamics will likely shift somewhat - you might consider how these will impact your competitiveness within the EOI pool. https://www.taylormadeimmigration.com/Skilled_Points_Score
Basil1
Hi @TeeTMI, are you possibly able to please shed some light on if those whom submit/ed their EOI's before 16 November would be processed separately or if, post 16 November, all applications are thrown into the same pot? Many thanks.

Many thanks. My understanding is that where an invitation has not already been made all EOIs will be competing in the same pot - I have not seen anything yet to suggest this is not the case. As when the minimum points required to submit an EOI increased from 60 to 65. Just adding for interest - at the end of February 2019 there were 107,952 submissions in the EOI pool with 65 points or over. Any idea how many EOIs with 75 points and over?
TeeTMI
I came by this information through an industry source. I am not aware of any public information that provides a split specifically for how many EOIs with 75+ points. All EOIs for a 189 (except some of the ProRata occupations) with 75+ points lodged prior to 08/03/2019 have been invited to apply for a 189. We lodged our 189 EOI (non-prorata) with 75 points on 10/03/2019. How's that for timing?!

Ouch! Hopefully now we have started a new year the quota of invites each month will increase sooner rather than later. Good luck.

Holding thumbs we get an invite in the next few months.

From my mailbox this morning at least some of the 80 pointer backlog was invited.
