ACS: RPL + MCSE

Hi all,

New here but long time lurker,

Needing some advice with regards to my RPL + MCSE and how ACS assess this.

Currently I got my MCSE: Productivity as of last week. I have 14 years work experience I can prove and I'm doing an RPL.

My question is, can I submit both of these for 10 points (MCSE) and then RPL to gain work experience points? I am unsure if they deduct 6 or 8 years here, so not sure how much I can claim for points.

Do I have to do separate applications of one for MCSE assessment and one for RPL? or do I combine both?

I hear they take your MCSE as your skilled by date and all prior work experience becomes null, does an RPL get around this?

Really appreciate your responses

Congrats on no longer being a lucker and welcome Flashgear

With regard to the visa application and points - it is possible to claim a qualification separately.

Assuming that it has been assessed as the equivalent of an AQF degree you could claim points for the qualification itself.  Then use the results of the RPL towards points for work experience.

Great to be here :)

This is looking like great news. Thanks for pitching in @TeeTMI

Just wondering, if an MCSE (Equivalent Aus Diploma) is accepted as you mention "AQF degree" in your response.

Hello Flashgear,

In this situation you should submit a RPL application and include your MCSE certificate as well.  The ACS will then deduct 8 years from your work experience for the RPL and then acknowledge the MCSE as the  equivalent of an Australian Diploma level qualification which you can claim 10 points for in a visa application.

I hope this helps!

Regards

@SD_MOA are you 100% that ACS will take 8 years?

Looking at my graph in my prev posts, 8 years is only if you don't have a suitable qualification at all, surely with the MCSE it will knock it down to 6 years?

Hi Flashgear,

In my experience in similar circumstances they have deducted 8 years work experience.  To be sure you should email the ACS directly - they normally respond quite quickly: assessment@acs.org.au
