JCM
Hi all My wife intends to study to enhance future job opportunities in the above mentioned fields. This is NOT for Visa purposes but rather to start studying to be somewhat "half-ready" when she wants to enter into employment. She has no experience nor tertiary education in the field, or any other tertiary education. We are still in SA. Is there some course here that will be recognized or an online one in Aus that anyone can recommend? Thanks so much.
RolandCoombes
Hi there, I'm not an expert in this but from what I understand, a teacher degree is at least 4 years during which time your wife will also undertake placements (essential work experience). Teaching is a well sought after qualification (globally) and very rewarding. Early Childhood comes with its own rewards (personally and professionally). The entry level examinations and courses for Early Childhood are much shorter and it's fairly easy to get placements once you have experience. In Australia, Early Childhood is regulated. However, pay scale in Primary Teaching (and career opportunity in Teaching) are much greater. But it's all down to whether your partner sees a future in teaching on in early childhood development. SD_MOA
Hello JCM, In order to work as a Teacher in Australia you need to register with the state you intend to teach in. In order to register you will need a recognised Teaching qualification. As Roland says above this will need to equate to a 4 year degree in Education or a separate 3 year degree followed by a PGCE in Pre-Primary Education. Currently South African accredited Degrees are recognised in Australia as is the PGCE from UNISA. I hope this helps! Regards
