Buying an Australian small business

New to the site and the info is great!

 

Just a bit of background as to where we are at the moment. 

We are a family of four living in Durban. My wife is an engineer and with our preliminary investigations it seems a 190 visa is possible on her qualifications.

At the moment our thinking is to get there and then find jobs.

 

I own a business in South Africa and will want to sell my business and buy a small business in Australia. If there are anybody out there that has done this before i would appreciate any info you have as well as what the possible pitfalls are.

The business landscape in Oz is very different to RSA.  There will be many things that you don't know that you don't know (understandably) and somebody here trying to sell up loves a foreign buyer because they don't ask enough questions. Saffas do run successful businesses here but only after learning the way things are done and possibly working in an existing Oz business first to learn the ropes.
