Riekie
Hi, does anyone have experience in obtaining the SASSA grant for Older persons? I understand that the form is filled out in the presence of a SASSA official at a SASSA officce, is that correct? So you can't take the from home to fill out and take back later? Is there a list of SASSA offices somewhere? Looking for the nearest office to Joubert Park, Belville Which documents do they need to take? Must is be originals or could it be certified copies? What if they're too old to fill out the form? How long does it take for the application to be processed? Any warning, tips, info to share to make the process least painful? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

springmielie
Hi Riekie There is an Sassa Office in Bellville where the old Holiday Inn used to be. According to the map its in Petrusa Street. Here is their website address http://www.sassa.gov.za You can also ask on the group Brackenfell News & Info, there were a few discussions about Sassa. I've downloaded the information but the pdf file is too big, if you can forward me your e-mail I'll send it to you, otherwise you can read it under Social Grants: Older Persons on their website. You can also go to their fb page www.facebook.com/SASSANews.
TracyK
Hi Riekie, My Mom did hers recently, this is what I got from her. All newly certified: SA ID Marriage/Divorce or death certificates Proof of address Bank statements for last 3 months Payslip or affidavit that penisioner is not.employed Pensioner advise Affidavit of any other funds that is paid into your account, need to prove its not an income Investments Medical aid contribution slip Any recent Doctors accounts Yes.....just short of your DNA They need to go themselves and be prepared to be there for a few hours. My moms was not sorted on the first visit and she had to go back. They give you a bank form that you need to take to bank to be signed. A lengthy process and a bit frustrating for any eldish person. Let me know if you need any more information and I will look for more. Kind regards Tracy
