I never knew grants came through in the afternoon :-) Thanks! All visas for people living in The Netherlands are processed through the Australian Embassy in Berlin. That's why my grant could come through in the afternoon - same time zone.

Enjoy the cloud 9 feeling!! 250 days - it was the longest 8 months of my life - yes it felt longer even than being pregnant AND my son was only born at 42 weeks! We are planning going around June, we are going to Brisbane. So excited!

Rossen
Brisbane is a lovely city. We've been there twice already and hope to settle there once we make the move. We loved how easy it was to get around as well as the vegan friendly restaurants. My biggest worry is the super hot summers though, not sure how I'll handle the heat and humidity. At least there's some great paragliding sites withing an hour's drive so that will more than make up for the heat.

TamLovesRic
I have just had a thought everybody...I remember our immense frustration when we only had 65 points for our EOI that the department was only releasing 300 invites per round for 189 visas...(as opposed to the previous months where it was about 1500). They have done this for about 6 rounds now. Luckily hubby retook the english test with pearsons and we got 75 points and therefore an invite. BUT - now because I am on the other side of the "invite" bridge, I am quite chuffed that they are only releasing so few invites...it means they have less visas to process and they should be clearing the back log..so processing times will get shorter?? Or is this just wishful thinking???- LOL.

Huge congratulations!

I am told that air conditioning in Brissie is like central heating in Europe - a prerequisite - not a nice to have. I am from JHB so am not used to humidity however I really love how green and lush Brisbane is and that comes from the tropical climate so c'est la vie. I guess at the height of summer runs and cycling will need to be done early mornings and evenings. All I can say is after living in the cold for four years - BRING ON THE HEAT. Though I am glad we are going in winter to make the transition a little easier. Edited March 8, 2018 by TamTam

I can't wait for that lifestyle change. I haven't really allowed myself to get properly excited till now. Visa was submitted 21 December with the notes from the Specialist, (He was not concerned and our Agent did not think it would have any effect on the Visa, but...) No news since then, not even CO contact, just hanging out in the waiting room. In the middle of the 3rd months (but strangely feels like 3 years). I understand - when you are in the waiting room you cannot help but worry "what if" I came to the point where weekend were unpleasant because there was no potential for the grant to come though. Fingers crossed you get to do the pyjama dance soon! When are you hoping to move by and which state?

Just need to close accounts with SARB and SARS, get transfer docs from schools, close cell accounts (all pay as you go), sell off the remaining furniture and we're good to roll.

I'm also hoping for a faster processing time for the same reason as you though I am quite puzzled by the change of the processing time for the 189 visa from 5 - 8 months to 9 - 12 months. Surely if they decrease the amount of invites per month from over 2000 to around 600 then the processing times should decrease as well?
