TeeTMI Posted December 12, 2017 Report Share Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) SkillSelect Invites 09 November 2017 Skilled Independent Visas (189) Invitations Update Details of the 9th November 2017 round of Invitations for the 189 SkillSelect visa invites have been published. In this round most occupations required at least 70 points (deeming date 21/10/2017) in order to receive an invitation for a 189 visa. Expressions of Interest for the 489 Family sponsored 489 visa required 80+ points in this round (deeming date 31/5/17). State sponsored applications 190/489 are not impacted. Currently, it appears that for a number of reasons the demand for this visa may outweigh the number of places available. If the current factors that are influencing this increased requirement in points continue in the new year then I would not expect to see a reduction in the number of points required in the near future and may rise futher. Applicants with less than 70 points might consider other strategies. The points required for the ProRata occupations is provided in the table below (source DIBP) Rather than announcing Invitation rounds for December, the current advice reads that whilst 2 invitation rounds per month are anticipated that the dates may vary.
