Visa lodged March 2017

I don't think that the points matter at this stage. I think its points that get you your invitation from what I've read.

Yes, something has definitely slowed down... :(:(

No grant yet.

As mentioned in other topics, using the sample set from myimmitracker, May seems to be a slow month with only 13 grants so far (previous average  for 2017 about 120 per month). Things do seem to have picked up slightly since last week Thursday though.

Hi All

We are fairly new to this blog.  Have been reading through the posts and the information that you all post is really, really valuable and re-assuring to say the least.

 :yourock:

I'm writing on this thread as it is about immigration 2017 and hope that together we can help each other see the next months and year through.

My husband @Vanbros was bitten by the immigration bug in April this year and life is now not the same.  We are serious about relocating to Oz.  I am a school teacher with 22 years experience in teaching 10-18 year olds.  My teaching practice of 50 days was completed within my four year Bachelors teaching degree with age groups 13-18 year olds.  Although I qualified with my degree in Primary Education, 3 years of this degree was Secondary school teaching.  We recently met with an agent that some members on this blog speak highly off, and was told that my teacher qualification is not an issue so long as my teaching practice was done in the 13-18 year group.  Any thoughts about this?

I am 44 and my husband is 46.  So in terms of age, we need to go full speed ahead in order to claim points for me.  I turn 45 in March next year (Times when you suddenly wish you were born later!). He is a qualified refrigeration and aircon mechanic but is currently working as a Facilities Manager.  The agent also told us that because of age, my husband will not be suited as primary applicant and that I have the better chance of the visa as it is on the SOL, which is now changed to MLTSSL.  We are looking at visa 189.

IELTS test is booked for July, only then can I send my qualification to AITSL for assessment.  Please comment or advise if we are on the right track and if there are things we should be doing in the meantime to facilitate the process.  We have applied for unabridged marriage certificates in April. We have chatted to 2 reputable MARA agents that come highly recommended on this blog.  Now toying with who to go with.  Will definitely use an agent either way as I don't want to mess anything up with silly mistakes that we would not have known to rectify because of lack of experience on our part.

Thank you all.  Best wishes to all those who are on the brink of getting their visas awarded and to those who, like us, have just started, fingers crossed!

Hi All

After receiving the same advice regarding my qualification from the 2 agents we chatted to, we have decided to go full steam ahead with the process.  We have enlisted the services of an agent this morning, contract signed, initial fee paid and the process kicks off:ilikeit:, application for SC189 visa begins today.

@BarryHeyns , @Leeloo44 I have read somewhere on this forum that the month of May is a go-slow for grants...hang in there, I'm sure you guys will receive good news soon.

Thanks for the feedback and words of encouragement! Yes, I had also heard of May being slow and also due to a possible cap on 189 visas as a whole. Then from July it speeds up again.. let's hope and pray!

Hi @HonestPiney and @Leeloo44 - I see both of you received your invitation to lodge a day or two after submitting your EOIs.  This is very encouraging for me because I need to lodge before end of May for age points, and I am STILL waiting for vetassess results (they were supposed to confirm last week - now they say they will confirm my assessment this week.  It's been over a month...).

Do you know what the time between EOI and invitation depends on?  What skills/occupation did you apply under?

I think there are rounds every 2 weeks or so. It depends if the occupation cap is already reached, if there are still spots available then you'll get an invitation.

189 application lodged on 8 March

All info ready for decision on 10 April

Still have not heard anything, our agent mentioned that he has about 12 pending cases. Something has really slowed down the approval process.

I am on 75 points for Accountant(General) which should be at the higher end of the candidates so I am not sure what is holding them back.

@BarryHeyns

I was in the exact same boat as you, we applied last year August, general accountant, 75 points.  All I can say to you is this:  The visa will get granted but it doesn't happen as quickly as you hope it will.  We got our grant on December 15, 4 months after applying.  I was expecting a lot quicker as everything went smoothly and I also thought I was at the higher end of the candidates, and it was only the actual Grant which took a long time.  So sit back, forget about the grant, it will only cause you more anxiety.  The grant will happen.  Relax :)

We are now in Melbourne, and we are loving every second.  I found work 9 days after landing in the country, and have just received my first promotion (after being with the company for 3 months).  I have been in Australia now for 4 months, which is the same amount of time that I waited for the Grant, and it went very quickly.

@HonestPiney What was the "further documentation " did AITSL need, if you don't mind my asking? Just want to ensure that I have all my ducks in a row before I send it through. And if you also don't mind, which agent are you guys going with?

Thanks

Sorry I see that you are using Migrate2Oz....so are we.  Six months before a positive reply from AITSL?? Worried that I might not lodge before my 45th birthday in March next year ?

@March2 AITSL requested a letter outlining the courses undertaken as part of the teaching qualification (a PGCE in our case), as it appeared in the University's academic calendar during the time my wife was an enrolled student.

Hi @brotobunz  I see you added me onto your visa application timeline....really wish I did form part of this group that has already submitted.  I only just started 2 weeks ago!  Maybe this a message out for the Universe:holy:

Thanks for tabulating all dates and info @brotobunz :)

PS I noticed on the borders.gov.au webpage that the processing times have been updated for 189 visas - 75% of applications processed in 4 months, 90% of applications processed in 6 months (this is updated every month), last month it was 5 and 7 months respectively. Crossing fingers and toes...!

Thank you Leeloo44.... here is the link for the processing times.

Global visa and citizenship processing times

Now I know I can stop waking very early with hope and eagerly checking my email for a grant every day for a while...maybe start again in July/August.

I am glad to report that we received our visa grant this morning!

It appears as if the wheels are turning again at the DIBP.

I sincerely hope that other members of the March thread will receive the same good news shortly!
