I can see on the letter that they sent me that I should bring passport, welcome letter and tax residency details once I am in Austraulia. what is that tax residency details? How do I obtain it and from whom? Thank you for your help. Going end of January to Adelaide. I also opened a commonwealth bank account on our activation trip. All you need to do is print a tax clearance certificate (tcc) on the sars efiling website It can be a general (goodstanding) TCC. It is basically to say your tax is in order. http://www.sars.gov.za/ClientSegments/Individuals/TCS/Pages/How-to-request-your-TCS.aspx 3 minutes 25 seconds in the video Edited November 2, 2017 by bcuz007

RussellJ
Essentially a tax number. If you’re not tax resident in Australia yet, provide your South African one. You can still get your account activated without one, although you will not receive interest on many money in the account until you do. I suppose any letter/document from SARS showing your tax number should do.
