pmayes Posted October 23, 2014 Report Share Posted October 23, 2014 Hi All,Hoping for some advice.I will be getting my Skills Assessment tomorrow from Aus finally.So I now will have my PCC, my Birth Certificate, all other docs will be certified and the Skills Assessment, the only thing I will be outstanding is my Unabridged Birth Certificate which I applied for on the 12th September.Should I submit my EOI now or should I wait till I have my Unabridged Birth Certificate?Thanks in advance.CheersPaul Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It will be a while until you get an invite and then you still have 60 days to lodge your visa application. So hopefully you will have the birth certificate by then. If not, you can still apply without it and it will be 2 months or so (based on my own experience and that of others on the forum recently) until you have case officer that will be requesting documents that are outstanding.I think most people submit the EOI without having all documents ready so I say go for it. The next invite date is on Monday so I would submit by Sunday. Once you receive an invite you can lodge without it. When you have a CO (which seems to be about 2 months after applying for the visa), they will request outstanding information. You should have you birth certificate by then. BriD Posted October 24, 2014 Report Share Posted October 24, 2014 Just make sure that all documents especially the skills assessment English tests etc are dated before the date you submit your EOI. You need a HAPID to book for the medicals.Just be careful of waiting for your UBC. I applied end of April. I am still waiting for mine - but I had an older one I used - I ended up having to use an agent and pay R1000 to get my hubbies one out of DOHA. I have a Btech degree and submitting my final dissertation for a Master of Science this year (so graduation is in 2015). Does anybody know if there is a signficant difference between the points that I will receive for a Btech degree and MSc? I would prefer to go ahead with all the assessments, but not sure if this might return a negative result? neburr Posted November 19, 2014 Report Share Posted November 19, 2014 Hi KarinvdWalt.I am not a specialist though here goes my 2 cents.The points allocation for ANY degree under a PhD, is exactly the same. What that means, is that you do not get additional points for the Masters. You score the same points as you would for a Bachelors degree.Secondly, just remember you might have 14 years of work experience. They (assessing authority) will only credit you for the work experience AFTER the point, they feel you have satisfied their educational requirements. So, they may only credit you for your work experience after you obtained your B.Tech.Even if you receive a negative assessment, read their reasons very carefully. If they have missed a point, or you feel strongly that you satisfied their criteria, appeal . I did that, with success .I hope that this helps.
