Fabulous. I am thrilled. How long do you think before you get your visa? What does hubby do? Do you have kiddies and how old are they?

So excited to have connected! :ilikeit::):ilikeit:

........Just got my facts straight. I remember your little one was diagnosed with leukemia. How is he doing? How does this affect your process?

May the universe send you lots of good juju to heal and help!!!!!

Thanx KMG for the good juju and all !!

Yes, Logan was diagnosed with Leukemia. We have to wait and see what DIAC says, when they EVENTUALLY contact us. He is in remission and we are almost in the final stage/phase of treatment. WOOOOOHOOOOOO

Hubby is a Turner / Machinist / CNC Programmer, gosh if we had it MY WAY we would have the visa already, lol, cannot stand all this waiting. We were on the CSL but then got knocked off earlier this year when they made the changes - BUMMER!!!!

Logan is 4 in Nov and Chase is 7.

Do you have any kids? When will you be going?

Hey, Simsons

Holding Thumbs for you big time that it all works out.

We have our PR visa. Hubby is a plumber. We have a trip booked over to activate our visa. We will arrive in Sydney on the 31st of Dec. Spend N.Y.Eve in Sydney and fly out to Tasmania for a week. Fly back to Sydney and drive down to Wollongong for a week to explore that area. Spend 3 days in Sydney and then come on home to plan things forward. We have some interest in the house at this time, so IF we had to get a buyer within the next couple of weeks, we will try and make it our exit in Dec if we can.

We have a 6 year old son and 5 year old daughter.

Will let you know what we think of Wollongong. :censored:

We live in the south of Sydney - about 60km from Wollongong. It's absolutely beautiful in Wollongong!! We often go to Sublime Point lookout - half way from Sydney, for a quick braai. You can see Wollongong from there. When we were at the lookout with my in-laws, it literally took my father-in-law's breath away! It's really spectacular, and he said is more beautiful than God's Window in Eastern Transvaal.... uhm Mpumalanga.

There are also some camping sites right on the beach on your way to Wollongong. And there are rainforests.... and the most beautiful beaches! It's really amazing! Since the first time we've been there, I've told hubby that we must "promote" this region to South Africans, because it is so stunning..... and because of the huge steel works factory there, I personally think their just might be a lot of job opportunities there. Oh yes, and Wollongong is big enough to have all the shops they have in Sydney.

Please KMG, when you are here, we must meet up for a braai or something on your way to Wollongong! And Simpsons, or any other Saffers.... when you are here, contact me! We don't mind the drive to Wollongong - it's truly beautiful!

Hi Mrs Maritz

Thank you SO much for the info. I am going to send you a personal message in the next couple of weeks to arrange for us to meet up for that braai. It will be great to connect with someone on that side. :censored:

Kind regards,

Karen

We lodged our application on the 17th of Jan 2008 and was granted our visa on the 13th of March 2009. We were granted the visa on the Friday and on the Monday we received an email from our agent with the news that Plumbers are no longer on the list. We just made it. It was a good thing that we had all our documents front loaded.

Hi Mrs Simpson, sounds cute hey, If your Husband is having problems with job offers as maybe he might in this economic thing, so many engineering business are closing down. Maybe give my Husband George a call, they are sometimes looking for cnc programmers (but be warned he better be good cause I would hate to get blamed if he is not, happened before he employed someone to help them out, man that did not work out. So I can't bend his ear the second time) Barrow Engineering. Peakhurst. Sydney.

Thank you Simpsons!!

I hope you do get to settle there too!! I still don't know of any other saffers there yet?? I'm sure they're around, just gotta find them!

Have to admit, I've been a bit down, cos I haven't heard from anybody around or near there yet? It makes researching the area really hard. The internet is great but you don't that the "personal opinion" thing. Having done all this before, I've already started to build up this image in my head, which I know won't be anything like the place really is??

I also need to find fellow horse lovers! ;) I have loads of questions about the horse world around there too??

My hubby is a specialist automotive mechanic!

Ahhhhhh, Unicorn, this whole Visa thing is very depressing at the moment, it seems as if we'll have to wait another year and a half ( as I understand it ) but we are busy working on trying to get a sydney sponsor, we would then still live in the "Gong" as the locals call it, and Don would commute to work and back as I believe many people do to and from Sydney. Please hold thumbs for us. I am so excited for you, wish it were us! Tell me, do you have kids and if so what age?

Hey simpsons, shame man, that's still a long time to wait! I'll hold thumbs you get a sponsor!

It's now 12am and I'm so excited I can't sleep (and jealous) my hubby is in Sydney for a meeting, but tomorrow/today he goes to Wollongong to meet his future boss!!

The recruitment agent has also offered to take him to all the sites and local stuff around "the Gong", so I will have loads of pic's for us all soon!!

I better get some sleep now!!! LOL!!
