PR visa Processing Times

Hi

My heading is a bit misleading. I was enquiring about processing and response times. In my hunt for info I came across the following Website.

http://www.overseas-emigration.co.uk/news/...plications.html

That gave the following info.

To receive current information about processing of Australia skilled visa applications send a blank email to aspc.processing@immi.gov.au.

and continued with..

Australian Government

Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs

This is an automated e-mail response from the Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre to provide current processing information only.

The information below is updated weekly on Tuesdays. Emails sent to this address will only receive this auto response. If you have a particular query relating to an application please direct that enquiry to adelaide.skilled.centre@immi.gov.au or refer to the contact information provided with the acknowledgement letter.

Processing Information

A case officer is appointed to assess each application as soon as possible, however, the ASPC receives a large number of applications and you will not be contacted immediately.

Applications lodged on the dates shown below are currently being allocated to case officers for further processing:

As of 6 June 2006 the Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre is assessing applications lodged on or before the following dates:

ONSHORE - paper based applications: 22 February 2006 (both priority and

non-priority applications)

ONSHORE- e-lodged (online) applications: 27 February 2006 (both priority and non-priority applications)

SIR - paper based applications: 15 March 2006 SIR - e-lodged (online) applications: 30 April 2006

ONSHORE NEW ZEALAND APPLICATIONS: 22 November 2005

OFFSHORE APPLICATIONS (all paper based) Priority Applications: In the range of 6 to 16 January 2006 Non-Priority Applications: In the range of 17 October to 21 October 2005

Hi

The information is provided in the letter of acknowledgement from DIMIA, theya lso give a defintion of priority processing

Applications eligible for priority processing are those from:

1. Applicants with a nominated occupation on the MODL

2. For applicants whose nominated occupation is not on the MODL applications for any of the following visas are given priority: a) Skill Matching (Migrant) (Class BR) - Subclass 134 - Skill Matching

b ) Skilled - Independent (Migrant) (Class BN) – Subclass 137 - Skilled - State/Territory-nominated Independent

c) Skilled - Australian-sponsored (Migrant) (Class BQ) - Subclass 139 - Skilled - Designated Area – Sponsored

d) Skilled - Independent Regional (Provisional) (Class UX) - Subclass 495 - Skilled - Independent Regional (Provisional)

Eligibility for priority processing does not mean that processing requirements can be waived.

I have twice sent an email request for an update on processing information, but am yet to receive a response!

I received a response yesterday, herewith the latest processing information

As of 27th June 2006 the Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre is allocating applications lodged on or before the following dates:

ONSHORE - paper based applications: 22 February 2006 (both priority and

non-priority applications)

ONSHORE- e-lodged (online) applications: 27 February 2006 (both priority and non-priority applications)

SIR - paper based applications: 15 March 2006 SIR - e-lodged (online) applications: 1 May 2006

ONSHORE NEW ZEALAND APPLICATIONS: 22 November 2005

OFFSHORE APPLICATIONS (all paper based) Priority Applications: In the range of 30 January to 10 February 2006 Non-Priority Applications: In the range of 27 October to 14 November 2005

Just to clarify - allocating means that they are presently assigning Case Officers to applications lodged in that time period.

I will try and get an update on a weekly basis and post here (for those of us who've lodged PR)

Good luck with the wait

Won't bore you with all the details but could someone help me here with the timeline thing? My hubby's work has said they can speed up our PR from their side because we don't want to go over on their 457 rather on our own 136. The company reckons once it's lodged in Australia, which it was last month, because they are waiting for him to start work on the 4 Sept. they can get the 136 approved by then. Is this at all possible? I thought you had to wait immaterial of circumstances. We had to submit a letter of a job offer from them but when I spoke to them again this morning they were adament we would have PR before September. 4 months sounds too good to be true to me?

We haven't done medicals or police clearances yet because our agent said to wait till requested. Any advice on that?

Hi Colton

Are you on MODL, or qualify in terms of any of the other "priority" classes (see above)? If not then I don't see how they can make that claim - the service standard for processing times for non priority applications from SA (non ETA country) is 15 to 18 months.

All non priority applications are processed in terms of "first come first served" and I wouldn't think that anyone would be allowed to "call in a favour" on that side.

Medicals and police clearance - the validity period is 12 and six months respectively.

Yup C'Lou we are on the MODL list with a job waiting which is the reason they said they can speed it up. Still doesn't sound right to me though. Why I am concerned is because they have said go ahead and sell house, etc because you WILL be here by September. I'm not prepared to put my family at risk by doing all that because what if it takes the normal time and then we are stuck. Our home and cars are paid off so it would be stupid to have to rent a car and home while we wait for PR to be approved if we do as they want and sell everything now.

You know the saying: "If it sounds too good to be true it most probably is!!!"

Just a question, we are in australia applying for Skilled Visa (136), will we fall under onshore or offshore?

Hi Dedrei

I assume you'll be applying for 136, so you're application is still classified as "off shore" - also means you have to take a holiday out the country to collect your visa label. This is usually a really good excuse to visit Bali or NZ!

Good luck

Hi Everyone,

Good question about the onshore and offshore issue. Maybe someone can shed some light as to what the difference is. Dedrei is in Australia already so should their application be onshore?

Hi Pippa

It depends on what type of PR subclass visa you will be applying for. Some is seen as offshore even though you are in Australia when applying. Now I don’t get this either but that is the way it is. You do get onshore PR subclass types but as I have it these are more for people whose currant employer is willing to sponsor them for PR and some other situations as well but you can go read up on this on the Dimia site, but the Subclass 136 that Dedrei is applying for is the best.

I suppose getting PR is the end goal.

Hi All

I also eagerly await the Tuesday email update - but I get the impression that it's mearly an indication - here are my reasons:

If you go to the site Aus Timeline - you will see that for instance some offshore Skilled Indep. applications are gettig CO's for application dates 30 December already and the email says they are only at the 7th of December - also you will notice that most of the other visa types dates havent moved much at all - so either ASPC is on one fat holiday or - these updates are indicative only

My other reason is that the Australian based migration agents (mine especially) dont seem to bother much with these email updates - too unreliable he says.

Anyway - this is my story and I am sticking to it - helps me keep sane during the wait for DIMIA

Cheers

The ASPC is current experiencing some delays in receipting and

acknowledging applications and regrets the inconvenience this may be

causing applicants and their representatives. While this backlog exists

information will be provided here daily about what applications are

currently being receipted. This backlog in receipting is being addressed

and will be rectified over the next few weeks and your patience during this

period is appreciated. Please note that these delays do not affect the

date on which a valid application is recorded as having been received and

is the date used for processing purposes.

As of 31 August 2006 the ASPC is receipting offshore applications received

on 2 August 2006 and onshore applications received on 3 August 2006.

Good luck and hope you hear good news soon
