"Approval" to "Entry" Timelines

Hi, could anybody assist with the timeline around entering Aus once you have been granted your visa?

We are on the 475 Family sponsored and I have heard that most visas have a 2 - 5 year "window" period, whereas the job sponsored visas are approximately 2 months.

Not sure if I have made sense here! I look forward to some advice!

Many thanks

Apollo

If you question is, "How soon must you enter Aus for the first time after your visa is granted?" then the answer is that you must enter Aus for the first time within 12 months of the date of either your medicals or police clearance certificate, which ever is earlier. The same rule applies for both temp and perm visas.

The first entry is called validating your visa. Then if you have an independent permanent visa you may leave the country and you have 5 years to return and take up residency. Obviously if you on an employer sponsored temp visa this 5 year period doesnt apply because your sponsor would want you to start work immediately.

Thanks Jordy, we are on a family sponsored visa so we will have to secure employment once we are there.

We are doing our police clearances this week so I assume this means we will have till October 2009 to enter Aus.

I appreciate the info!
