Hi all,

We will be arriving in Sydney on the 20t of October 2008. I was wondering if anyone could advise me of nice places to stay(not to expensive as the rand is not doing so well). Any kind of accommodation, hotel, self catering, b&b, caravan park ?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you

Hi Maryke

What is the purpose of your stay? I ask this because there are various options. I have just returned from Sydney, and noticed there are quite a few backpackers accommodations (in the CBD - Pitt St) which are quite reasonable & I believe not too shabby. Good for getting around, close to transport. My cousin & her hubby used this option a few years ago, and seemed to be quite happy. However, that said I do believe there is a caravan park in Manly somewhere - a friend of mine stayed there back in 2006, I think in a campervan. We stayed in the Metro Hotel, but granted, even though it was not a 5* at the exchange rate it was not cheap. My advice is to jump on google.

Enjoy your trip in October! I will be back in Sydney end of September - hope the weather is a lot better!

My contact in Sydney told me to have a look at wotif.com.

I've not been to Sydney myself but looks like you could pick up some discount prices. I'm also looking for accomodation for the first few weeks , have to start new job 1st of September.

Good luck !!
