OZSAFFER
Hi Forumites!Who thinks that it is a good idea to establsih a forum with the intention of establishing Business networks. There is one for employment purposes, but I think one devoted to establishing Business relationships will contribute signifficantly towards improving opportunities for SAFFER in OZ.CheersNick

Enrica
HiDepending on where in Australia, for eg Perth , that would be consider a fair size.Word of advice be very vary of buying an exsisting business, make sure that you get a really good accountant to do a due dillegence. Most business that are advertised for sale under as qualifying for a business visa /franchises etc be wary.A lot of people have had their fingers burnt .A good business is very rarely adverstised , as they are snapped up in no time.Dont be in a rush to part with your money

It is quite nerve racking, as it will mean living on the breadline until we have complied with the visa conditions, but worth it to get out of SA. We have a 6 year old son and there is no future here for him. We will have to bite the bullet and work our butts off to compensate. We have a good life here in SA, but's it's worth nothing if your family is not safe, or if you spend a fortune educating your children and chances at the end for them to actually get a job is slim. We will be relocating to Perth, so we will have to source a good accountant as well as a business broker when we arrive.Do you perhaps know of anybody who has already left SA on a business visa ? Are you already over there ?Regards and thanks once again for the advice.Wendy
Enrica
Hi WendyWe came over on a business visa 8 years ago. It was tough, but you bit the bullit and you will get there eventually. If you need a good accountant let me know. What business are you in in SA? When are you planning on coming over?I will keep my ears to the ground if some thing comes up.RegardsEnrica
The 3 R's
Hi EnricaThanks so much for your offer to help. We are currently not business owners in SA. My husband has been in the Employee Benefit Retirement Funds industry (your superannuation) for 17 years. I was in the same industry for 8 years and in the multi-manager asset industry for 7 years. Our intention initially is to find employment and then to start looking around for a business venture. It is unfortunatley the only way for us to get over there, but it's worth it. We ideally would like to invest in an existing business, but are willing to investigate all options. It really is a life changing experience, but we are embracing the positives and trusting that this is right thing to do. I appreciate any guidance or wisdom you are willing to share, as we are 'greenies' and need all the advise we can get.
ottg
Hi AllThere are quite a few SA business networks already available in Oz. It will be worth your while to learn the Oz way of networking (Google Rob Gibson)The Sabona one is fairly active across Oz. It will depend on what you put in and your expectations.http://www.sabona.com.au/business_network.ewsThe Australian Africa Business Council in WAhttp://www.aabc.net.au/However, it may serve you better to get involved in your local business activities as quickly as possible. Attend these events as a guest and decide then for yourself. It takes some time to build business relationships. It is all about people and NOT business. I did not include all the industry associations but joining one your business relates to will help. Here is a list of other business associations for networking. This is Perth specific but a Google search will put you quickly on the right track:1. Chamber of Commerce http://www.cciwa.com/2. Local Chamber of Commerce http://www.localchambers.com/Default.aspx?tabid=363. Malaga & District Business Association http://www.malagab2b.com.au/index.html4. Stirling Business Association http://www.stirlingbusiness.asn.au/5. (**) The Referral Club http://www.referralclub.com.au/6. others are (**) BNI and Business Swop Those marked with an (**) allows only one member per service type
Guest Bronwyn
Hi WendyTake a look on www.realestate.com.auOn the top left of the main screen there is a section for 'Businesses for Sale'. You can click on your area, and then sort per 'most recent additions' to the website. You will get a fair idea of what is for sale and how much they turn over.We are here on a business Visa. PM me if I can help.Regards, Bronwyn
