  1. Hi everyone I hold a B.Ed in foundation phase teaching. The degree covers Gr R to Gr 3 (ages 5-9). Primary school teachers are NOT on the Skilled Occupation List, but Early Childhood teachers are. As far as I know Early Childhood in Australia refers to teaching children who are up to 8years old. So does that mean I qualify as an Early Childhood teacher for Visa purposes? My second question is whether my experience teaching in a Grade 2 class (age 7-8) would count as early childhood experience. Please help!

Visual Art Teacher - Trying not to Panic :)

Hi Everyone, So the wife, 2 kids and I are arriving in Brisbane on 30 December and are of course hugely excited....but obviously we're a little worried as well. I am a High School Visual Art Teacher (Provisionally Registered with QCT) and I've also been Head of Sport. But it seems like there really aren't many art jobs around, if any at all!!! I've also taught English (TEFL) in Taiwan for a year (after varsity) and I'm now beginning to think that it may be the way forward to teach English at that level.... My wife is also a Primary school teacher and is currently in the process of Teacher Regisration with QCT. Should we relax and wait to apply for jobs actively once we're in Brisbane, or is there cause for concern? Eish! Any advice will be greatly appreciated.... Juan

  4. Hay everybody I am a secondary school mathematics teacher, I would love to move to Australia (preferably South Australia), however I do not want to use an agency. Are there any alternatives?? Thanks in advance
  5. Are there any teachers out there that have had there skills assessment done by AITSL (Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership) and if so can you please tell us how long it took for you. I need to get an idea of how long we are going to wait. If I go on what their site says then we are going to wait 10 weeks and we will then not have enough time to lodge the state sponsorship or visa applications after that (before the 1 July changes).
