Mellee
@ReeceDavies, Congratulations!!! You give all the Feb Lodgers some excitement! Did you get a VPO/CO assigned to you, if so, how long before getting your visa ? Did you use an agent or did you do it by yourself ?
RDD
@ AlchemistOur sentiment exactly. One of our main criteria of where we want to move to is to be close to good beaches. We would consider Perth, but due to the big 4 banks being split between Sydney and Melbourne, it narrowed our options.@ MelleeWe went through an agent (MigrateAU – would recommend on any given day) Niether the agent nor ourselves were notified of when we were allocated a CO. However I do think that because we got our application decision ready in such a quick time frame (got PCC and medicals finalised and sent through within 6 weeks after lodging the application), our (through the agent) first communication from the CO was to notify us that our Visa’s had been granted. Aneldari
Hi allFirst of all good luck to everyone, hope the wait is not too long. It is most definitely worth it. Questions: how long after you submitted your EOI, did you receive an invitation to lodge your 189 visa app? And, if I may ask, how many points did you have? Does applications with higher points or specific occupations get priority?Thank you so much!CheersAneldari

Jos
Awesome! Also applied in Feb, and now waiting with bated breath!
RDD
@AneldariSubmitted the EOI on the Thursday 22 January 2015 and received the invitation to apply the next day (23 January 2015). We were lucky as they had an invitation round on that friday. We submitted on 60 points, but many websites and even the agents do state that the higher the points the quicker you should be invited. It is dependent on various factors though, including how many invitations they have available that round compared to how many applications are received, but they do prioritise from the higher points down.
RDD
@ shellykdI have seen that many people on the forum have gone through the process independently. For me, after having used an agent, I would spend the money all over again if I had to.It all depends on affordability and how organised you are in the end...The agent made the entire process stress free. And most likely cut out any back and forth I would have had with the Case Officer with regards to documentation, etc.The Aussies are pedantic, so if anything is a bit faded after scanning, or slightly skewed, or different to how they require you to answer questions on application forms etc, they will reject the document and ask for it to be resent to their standards, which I would imagine would delay the process quite significantly. Where the agent would save you these delays by telling you outright what is expected and would confirm whether it was acceptable or not straight away. If we didn't have an agent, I don't think we would have been able to receive our visa's in the 4 months it took from start to finish. But if you are not in a rush and/or are not keen on paying the agent fees, then it can definitely be done independently.Just be super organised and it won't be a stressful process at all (assuming you are yet to start the process).
