What do you wish you had brought with you?

WIsh I had stocked up on good quality fluffy winter sheets. They are a lifesaver in the Melbourne winter. Tried target sheets when we first arrived, but ended up biting the bullet and getting some really good quality ones from Adairs. I love them.

My tip for the day would be to stuff any gaps you have with nice sheets, blankets, towels, etc.

From SA to Perth - nothing really. I brought most of my stuff.

From Perth to Melbourne - if I could've packed the sunshine, the laid back lifestyle and beaches, I would've brought those :)

Our Golden Retrievers (who are now happily living on the farm with Ouma and Oupa).

The missus is already stocking up as we speak... I hope my credit card makes it through this. :whome::magic:

All my camping gear...

Agree with this. If I had my time again I would also buy a Venter trailer and send it over. As well as a new mountain and road bike.

Have any of you ever seen a Venter in Australia? (as proof that you can take one, and they have no issue with them on their roads) I'm asking because I know that my hubby is already sorely tempted to bring one. And we'll need to look at the container options anyway because we inherited furniture that was handmade by family.

Yes. There are Venters here. I'm not sure if a little bit of modification is required to make them comply, but I personally know people who have brought them over.

Come to think of it, in Victoria a trailer does not need to be registered - I specially had to register mine to drive to other states. They did not inspect my trailer when I registered it.

I have seen some miserable excuses for trailers on the road which surprise me for a country with such high Health and Safety Laws.

My point being - I'm sure you could bring one over and use it in Victoria with no problems - but don't quote me on that.

I also almost bought a Venter that was standing by the roadside with a for sale sign on it. Turns out it had too must rust, so I didn't go ahead.

Oh, great! I get the feeling that our container might contain a shiny little Venter, stuffed with kitchenware/miscellaneous household items! :ilikeit: Because the summer holidays only start when you pack the Venter and trek down to Cape... I think we will be doing a lot of exploring in our first few years that side.

We are bringing our venter Trailer. It's currently in the container on the way over to us. Hubby had to some paperwork to export it but nothing too hectic

After 5 months here I really miss my floorwiz mop and salt&vinegar spice. We went to 4 shops and couldn't find proper mieliepap. We don't live near a SA shop and we're trying out alternatives, but it's not the same. I also miss Huisgenoot (the 10 pages with actual articles)

Check Cole's - I saw pap in the flour section. Apparently IGA often has SA stuff, but I think that is more a Queensland thing.

If you go into a shop that sells health food products and ask them for Kialla Maize Meal, they should be able to get it for you, we have used the yellow one for years, absolutely delicious!

Unfortunately they no longer sell direct to the public, you have to order through a shop. You could always contact Kialla for the stockist closest to you.
