BrandonJHB
Hi thereWe are emigrating to Australia at the end of April, and are currently deciding what to do with our household stuff. My questions to anyone who can help are:1. We have many large pot plants that must be worth something to someone. Has anyone used nurseries or auction houses to sell pot plants? Any recommendations welcome.2. Are there any good auction houses that people have used for marketing more general household stuff? We'll go the friends and family route first, then gumtree, etc, but we might need to get rid of the rest of our stuff quick. Likewise, any recommendations welcome. We are in the Northern suburbs of Joburg. Many thanks!Regards,B Edited March 24, 2015 by BrandonJHB
EmNew
Hopefully someone will answer, as I have these same questions too, but for Northern suburbs of Cape Town.Keen to know about the option of selling furniture as a lot - my husband suggested it and can't find much information out there as to risks etc.
Shabani
Hi,Have you tried Cash Converters. They now buy major/big household items.Selected branches offer this service. The Randburg and Fourways branch offer this service.Good luck.
greggle
Perhaps try http://www.movingon.co.za/
Eva
I can tell you this much, replacing your pots and plants will cost you big time this side! I regret not bringing pots with us as we brought a container and had the space. As I type this I have 5 pots being collected for me with lollipop trees in them, not huge pots or plants, for the bargain price of $300! trace
We used movingon.co.za. We had the sale on the day before our flight & managed to get rid of most things. They are good with pricing items & it was a good way to get our stuff sold quickly - although we didn't get as much as expected for it.Possibly for specialist items like garmins & playstations you could try cash converters and specialist sites (for motorbike equipment, etc)
EmNew
Thanks greggle and trace for the suggestion and endorsement of movingon.co.za - going to note that in my admin to-do list for when our time comes.
