Not sure if this has been covered already. What do I do if I cannot find my son's immunisation card? He is four years old and up to date with his immunisations.

Don't the clinic have a record of it for you?

If you don't have it they'll probably make you have all of them again as they have a rather safe than sorry attitude regarding immunisations here.

You can get blood tests done for your son that confirm what Immunisations he has recieved. He will then only need to get mumps, chickenpox and meningococcal if he hasn't got them already. All the best!

Sibella, I always took him to a Clicks clinic and for some reason, even though they have a computer system, they cannot print a neat summarised report to show all the immunisations he has received. They managed to print pages and pages off their system but it is not clear from those pages what he received and when. Very frustrating!! :angry2: Because I remember every time I took him, they took a while to input everything on their system.

Thanks Jay&Gee that would definitely be an option.

I am also hoping that maybe when we start sorting and clearing things out for the big pack-up I might find it.

Take that info to your doctor and have him give you a report/letter to summarise & confirm the immunisations. In Australia the GP has a numbered form for that purpse - maybe the GP's in RSA have the same thing, and they could just fill one out for you.

I had the immunisation cards for the kids...but the doctor objected to some of the vacs they were given saying they were not done at the proper intervals. So he redid a few of them as well as gave the new ones. They pretty strict about it here, so you might need to redo them. Check with a doc when you arrive :)
