NatalieOconnell
Hi GuysSo i got the dreaded e-mail saying that our Victoria state sponsorship has been denied, I have seen the email they sent to me before on this forum, so I'm assuming its a generic email they send to all the candidates they deny.So yes now its back to the drawing board. I have 55 points without state sponsorship, so our plan is to get my husbands skill assessed: He is a quantity surveyor, and the cost to get it accredited is $650 at the AIQS, and then on top of that the IELTS test. So at least we can get the 5 points for Partner skills. Then we will rather apply for the 189 Visa. But wow the costs are adding up now :/I thought about waiting to apply for NSW when they open their state sponsorship, but not sure we will get it and don't want to risk spending the extra application fee.Anyway, will keep you guys updated
neburr
Hi NatalieOconnellI am sorry about Victoria .I also understand the costs, but if I were you sit down and think about the benefits if this comes through. Don't deny yourself the opportunity if you can. You can always get past the costs, eventually. All the luck in your journey.
bbop
We were also denied Victorian sponsorship, what a blessing! We went on to apply for a 189 and have no regrets.

A "no" can definitely be a blessing. It's only money - what price your future?
mistermoose
I'd be interested to know what reasons a state would have for declining an application. If you have a job that's on their list, why wouldn't they want to sponsor you?
TeeTMI
I'd be interested to know what reasons a state would have for declining an application. If you have a job that's on their list, why wouldn't they want to sponsor you?A couple of years ago a quota was applied to the number of sponsored places each state could offer. Many of the states then became a bit more selective in various ways depending on the state. However several states were already quite selective, for various reasons, in the places offered and Victoria is one of those states.
elleneo
Does anyone know if Victoria is sponsoring finance managers? I can only find them on the NT sponsor list, I have friends keen on Melbourne but not sure if they on the list..

NatalieOconnell
Hi GuysThis is the email I received. So no specific reason, pretty much all the possible reasons. Thanks for the positive words Thank you for your application for Victorian Government nomination under the 190 - Skilled Nominated visa scheme. Following a review of your application, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for visanomination by the Victorian Government. Your application for Victorian Government state nomination was reviewed individually and assessed with afocus on your ability to address a number of criteria, including: your ability to meet the minimum eligibility criteria, the demand for your particular skills and expertise, and your ability to find work in Victoria, the suitability and transferability of your qualifications, skills and experience – including any specialist capabilities – to the needs of Victoria’s labour market, your ability and commitment to establishing yourself, and any dependents, in Victoria the number of nomination applications received relative to the number of nomination places available for your occupation. Victoria receives a high number of very strong applications for state nomination and only the very highest calibre candidates with the strongest skills, experience and opportunity for finding work in Victoria’s labour market are selected for Victorian state nomination. The Victorian Government uses independent industry panels to provide advice on the suitability of applicants to Victoria’s labour market. These industry representatives also provide advice on the demand for individual applicants’ qualifications, skills and experience, and prospects for employment in Victoria. While your application demonstrated your ability to meet the minimum eligibility requirements for Victorian statenomination, other applicants were able to more adequately demonstrate their suitability for employment inVictoria. There are other visa pathways for highly skilled workers who want to live and work in Victoria and we encourage you to investigate other visa options on the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP)website: www.immi.gov.au. Faduv
A "no" is sometimes a blessing. For us it was the case. My occupation was removed from all the lists. That said none of the states sponsoring were where we wanted to be. We eventually had to do my wife's skills assessment and IELTS. We now have sponsorship from South Australia, where we wanted to go. God's plans works out for the best, being human we only see it in hindsight.Do not let this cause you to take your eyes of the prize.Best of luck Edited January 28, 2015 by Faduv
