LouiseMark
Hi all. I have to start the process for Police Clearance for hubby and myself. Any advice? How long does this usually take?
Theunis
Ours went in on 28 October 2014 and were finalized on 21 November 2014.Goto police station nearest to your house with ID, proof of address and money. From there you can take it in to pretoria.
NewAdventure
I think its luck of the draw. Ours arrived at CRC in Pretoria on 29th October, registered 10th November and still not finalised. I phoned them yesterday, was on hold for more than half an hour and they told me they should be ready by Friday. I hope that's the case. Bigvan07
OnMyWay,Same thing happened to me, 7 weeks after 1st sms, I went in and lo and behold it was ready for 4 weeks already. 2 weeks after that the 2nd sms came through that it is ready for collection. Shocking!!
KatrynvanCenturion
Hi allCan anyone confirm the amount payable for the pcc and the bank details? Did the price increase from R59 to R96 ? I'm just a bit wary of fraudalent websites....We will be applying from Oz for these certificates and I'm hoping to have it back within 4 weeks but not sure if it will be that fast over the festive season ( and then there's the load shedding ).The next question is which courier to use and is a cover letter neccessary? Thanks and looking forward to your replies. niro
Hi there,We had to redo our PCCs last week and the price is now R96 - it was R59 a month ago.The PCCs that we submitted a month ago to a service provider (claiming that they can assist in getting the PCC in a short space of time) was actually fraudulent - so please be careful who you use. We used "Majesticpassports" and we can not get a hold of the guy. We have now sent it now through DHL however still no sms.Very frustrating!
BBM
We recently used a service provider - website www.southafricanpoliceclearance.com (Lady's name is Justine Roos). We applied from Australia - couriered required documents to her. We found them to be very efficient. They lodged on the 7th of August and received police clearance certificates on 27 August. It is costly but we felt it was worth it not having to deal with the hassle ourselves.
KatrynvanCenturion
Thanks Niro & Bbm for your replies. I had a look at the fees charged by Bunnyhop and decided to send it off myself (via Pack & Send). The cost was $118 for all 4 application forms which I got from the web. I know the package has been delivered but as yet no sms from the Police dept to confirm that they've received it.So the waiting game begins - not sure what effect the power outages and Christmas period will have on the processing time. EmNew
Hi LouiseMark, I am also situated in Cape Town, and would love to know which route you chose to apply for the PCC's. Did you go it alone via a courier, or appoint a queue-for-you type agent? We need to start this process now and one thing that bothers me is that our agent has asked as to email the receipt that you get when the application is handed in in Pretoria......If you use a courier, can you request that the courier takes the receipt and sends it back to you? I am also worried about all these stories you read where they leave off maiden names on the certificate. So if a courier is sent to pick up the finalised certificates, we will only see that when we receive them back in Cape Town..... and so starts the process again....Anyone else in based in Cape Town have their experiences to share on the best way to do this, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? LouiseMark
Hi there!Hubby and i went to the police station and paid and received the finger prints. I then couriered them to Pretoria. Once I received the sms I sent a screen shot of that sms to our immigration agent as the 'receipt". That was the 17th of Dec.We have not received them back yet and it is the only outstanding docs..gggrrr.I popped into Nevetec and they were very helpful. If only I had known about them before I did this myself, I would definitely have used them as they take the stress out of it for you!Really hoping ours will be ready this week! I will then instruct the courier to collect.HOLDING THUMBS!
Bigvan07
LouiseMark, I'm speaking from experience here. Do not, I repeat do not wait too long. Our PCC's were also the last docs the CO needed and we waited. 7 weeks and no second sms. I even really plucked up the courage to engage another useless civil service provider. I phoned as soon as they opened, held on for no less than 25mins before someone answered. Ask about our clearances. Oh, it has been finalised 4 weeks ago and ready for pick up. Start phoning them on Monday if it is past the 3 weeks mark. It should never take longer than that.
LouiseMark
@Bigvan07 - thanks for the advice! After the drama we had with our children's Birth Certificates and our marriage certificate I am really exhausted from dealing with government bodies. I was really hoping the PCC's would be a breeze as my sister got her's in less than 2 weeks last September.I guess I will start the endless phoning on Monday. tyde
Can anybody tell me whether or not scanned fingerprints are now acceptable, I have seen conflicting information. Or do I have to try and find a police station in Australia that will still do ink prints? Thanks in advance.
EmNew
@asherester1 - Thank you again for the referral to NeVeTeC - I contacted them today , along with 2 other similar companies ( 1 based in Cape Town, another in Pretoria ) and got the best telephonic service and a quote about 1/3 the amount that the other 2 agents had given me for the same service! So, for anyone else based in Cape Town, they are a great and VERY reasonable option to use. I see from their website, they have offices all round SA, so perhaps an option to consider for all requiring the PCC's that are not based in Pretoria to easily handle this themselves.
LouiseMark
Anyone received their PCC's back recently? We received sms on 17 December but still nothing. I have sat on the phone for what must be at least 2 hours trying to contact them to see if it is ready but have yet to speak to a human and not some voice recording! simonisjf
Hi All,I am new to this forum but just reading the posts recently has made me more and more excited. All we are waiting for still is our unabridged birth certificates and the police clearance then Aussie has all of our docs for the 189. We couriered the finger prints to PTA on Friday and arrived on the Monday, the 19th. Have not received an SMS at all but I am hopeful for a quick turnaround time.
