KylaWatt
Could anyone give me feedback on the job opportunities in IT?? My husband is a senior .net developer with 8 years experience. I'm petrified of going over with no job and then battling to find one when we there.
Nallan
I can understand your fears - the crazy scenarios that our brain creates during these times; I can only speak from my experience; I'm not in the .net field currently but I was, I have noticed for every SAP job there at least 4/5 .net positions, there are a lot of .net contracts and some perm. I have a friend that came in April 2014 and she found work within the first month at Westpac(Melbourne) - perm. http://www.seek.com.au/jobs/in-sydney/#dateRange=999&workType=0&industry=&occupation=&graduateSearch=false&salaryFrom=0&salaryTo=999999&salaryType=annual&advertiserID=&advertiserGroup=&keywords=.net&page=1&displaySuburb=&seoSuburb=&isAreaUnspecified=false&location=1000&area=&nation=&sortMode=KeywordRelevance&searchFrom=quick&searchType=

monsta
I work in the industry. It definitely goes in waves. Sometimes its up and sometimes its down. It was down in 2013 because Symasntec and a few other big employers moved much of their development to Asia. The federal elections didn't help either. A lot of companies delayed any big spending till after the elections. The good news is all of that has passed! Things are looking up now.But always remember that in Aussie its all about being a nice guy to work with! That counts way more than how skilled you are. That's why South Africans often beat out Asians for jobs, culturally we are far closer to Aussies than say Chineese or Indians. Your hubbie should definitely use that to his advantage.
