Sol1
Dear All,I would like to raise a query and I was wondering if anyone that has had a similiar experience to help me with advice. The issue arises over the fact that my wife has decided to do a Montesori course which will last 2 years. There is a Dual course which she can do which is acredited in the UK and SA.I was wondering if anyone knows if a South African Montesori course is recognised in Australia? In other words, will she be able to find work having done this course.I know there is a big demand in Australia and throughout the world for Montesori teachers/educators but am just checking with people who may have had experience with this or knows of someone who has had experience with this. She has only decided to do it, in order to give us a double edged sword of a chance to find work in Australia. I think with this course, she may be in greater demand than me [solicitor/lawyer].Thanks guys- really appreciate any advice anyone can furnish us with.Kind regardsGordon Edited November 20, 2014 by Sol1

Sibella
The thing is that usually pre-school teachers need to be a fully qualified Early Learning teacher which is a three or four year degree. With only a Montessori qualification she might only get an assistant job.My daughter attends a Montessori pre-school and in each class there is a fully qualified teacher who is also Montessori qualified as well as an assistant. I did not look at the link that Mara sent but here is some info about qualifications needed etc:http://www.acecqa.gov.au/educators-and-providers1/qualificationsGood luck!
Joeemm
You might try contacting "The Montessori Australia" http://www.montessori.org.auOr "The Montessori School in Perth" http://www.themontessorischool.wa.edu.auThis school is the oldest in Australia and I'm sure they would know a fair amount of information that will help you.
