SD_MOA
Hello All,After talking with DIBP Case Officers recently they made me aware of a change in way they process applications.Basically they are now called Visa Processing Officers (VPO’s) not Case Officers. The reason for this is your application is no longer assigned to a case officer. Your application now remains in a queue of active applications and once your application gets to the top of the queue a VPO will review it, take any necessary action and then return it to the queue with a 28 day reminder. After 28 days (it could be longer depending on the number of applications ahead of it) it will get to the top of the queue again and a VPO will review it again. It is unlikely to be the same VPO that reviewed it initially. Due to this change in process it is very important to have all of your documents attached as soon as possible to avoid being returned to the queue. This change also means you don’t have a specific case officer to email with updates/questions/requests.Regards
Donovan83
That doesn't seem like a very intelligent/efficient change...
Orphan
Hi StephanDo you know (or can you find out) whether this change in visa processing applies across the board, or to certain visa classes only?More specifically, do you know whether Parent Visas (143 & 173) are also affected by this? SD_MOA
Hello Orphan,I believe this only applies to GSM visas - not the Parent Visa subclasses. I have a number of Parent visa applications on the go and am dealing directly with case officers on them.Regards

SurferMan
Im not sure it translates into a longer processing time. If you consider that the same number of CO's will be present, and the case load is what it will be, it should roughly be the same. Unless of course each CO has to review from scratch, that will slooooow things down.
Minks
From what Stephen has said, my understanding is that it will be reviewed from scratch as the application will be assigned (in all likelihood) to a new VPO.So, even if you respond to any queries by the initial VPO immediately, your application gets resubmitted to the queue and will only be dealt with by a 2nd VPO 28 days later (at the earliest) ...Crossing fingers that we make it over the last hurdle without having to queue again!!
