Eyebrow
OKDoes everything have to be confusing?Anyway, I want to pay Telstra. (Allright, maybe more like I HAVE to pay them )So I get my electronic bill and there are many payment options.1. Online via you bank account2. Credit card3. Paypal4. BPAY5. Direct debitSo what does all these methods mean? Why are there so many? What are the benefits/risks/charges associated with all of them? What are EFTPOS and Post Pay?Why does Aldi Charge me $0.50 for paying with my debit card?Does one get charged for withdrawing money? Sunnyskies
Means flexibility.Billpay is done from your bank account. It is one of the options. You set up the payee based on the billpay number on the account. Insert the reference from your bill and pay. Easy as (to coin an Aussie phrase from my kids).Give me a ring and I'll talk you through the options.
rozellem
Direct debit is a "standing order", I think thats what its called in RSA. So, for things like rent and other known amounts coming your way on a regular basis. Pay Pal would be more for buying stuff online and more secure than paying with your credit card in those cases. Couldnt tell you about fees.
21yearsoutofrsa
Don't pay Telstra with your credit card, the fees are horrible. Also charges fees for using credit cards. It's them recovering charges.Your bank will have a bpay facility. That's what I use.Telstra is so flexable you can pay by PayPal, but that would be unusual
Mara
Aldi only charges if you use a credit card. If you use the debit card, issued by your bank, for your savings/cheque account, then there should not be a charge.Drawing money charges - if you draw from the Auto teller at your own bank, no there should be no charges, if you draw from the Auto teller at another bank, yes there will be charges, if you need money and your bank is not near, then walk into Coles or Woolworths and go to the enquiries desk, or walk through the pay by yourself queue or any of the cashiers, and they will give you cash out, you do not have to buy anything and there will be no charges for the service. Fish
Aldi did charge for my debit card! I dont have a credit card...Yes, Aldi are famous for charging, there has often been headlines about it and they have been in trouble for not making it clear enough at the checkout. It is part of their low prices policy brought from HQ in Europe..unattractive cheap buildings, few staff, payment surcharges etcI think they now charge for debit cards as well, but only if you tap and go. (i.e. contactless payment without entering pin). Was that the case for you Eyebrow or did you enter a pin ? Eyebrow
Is there a limit on cash out?No pin entered. Pay Pass...So it is cheaper if you actually put the card in the machine?Who can know all these intricacies?
Fish
Is there a limit on cash out?It is set by each the company. Small shop might only allow $100 per day where big stores might allow $1000.So if Woolworths group allows you $1000 per day it will include the cash out from all stores that Woolworths owns including the supermarkets, bottle shops, Masters etcNo pin entered. Pay Pass...So it is cheaper if you actually put the card in the machine?Who can know all these intricacies? Yes. Only wizards and warlocks can work it all out...just be thankful hardly anyone knows...it's not just you Edited October 26, 2014 by Fish

Jordy
Bpay is the best as you dont need to get the bank and branch and account number correct with the other methods. simply use the Biller code and the reference they give you. Easy as!

TeeTMI
If you tap your debit card at Aldi it will use the credit card function, and then ALDI charge. You need to put the card into the machine slot and select SAV - savings to avoid the charge. Using BPay - you will see the Biller Code - the organisations reference - and when you put this in via your bank it usually brings up the company name to double check as well. Then there will be a reference number to include. Edited October 28, 2014 by TeeTMI
Eyebrow
Went to Aldi today, put card in machine, chose savings and had no extra amount added. Yay.So a $0,50 saving per week = $26 per year! Can I retire yet?
