chzaau
Firstly I'm not familiar with the area so I can't comment however I'll give you some thought in general about Sydney. Firstly Sydney a very multi cultural city and that is important to keep in mind. So when you looking at an area you need to consider the culture and what you may or may not prefer from a culture perspective. So if you for instance have a challenge with Chinese or Lebanese culture then you might want to avoid certain areas. This culture thing will become even more important if you have children because if for instance you live in a neighborhood with a lot of Arabic people then you are certain to find that your children will have that culture influence mould them in some aspect. Now I'm not saying any culture is a problem because it is really for you to decide as a family what you feel works for you, meets your values and expectations. Just the saying it takes a village to raise a child comes to mind if you have children. So maybe a better question one could ask is based on the culture in South Africa what neighborhoods do people think meet well. Or alternatively also ask about culture in your question to get an understanding of the make up of a neighborhood.Good luck with your move and settle.
rozellem
I dont know The Ponds personally. From googlemaps I can see where it is in relation to others I know. I can tell you that people (and 1000's of RSA's) live and love Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Cherrybrook and surrounds. If you head more west from Baulkham Hills to Seven Hills, Blacktown, etc it gets more socio-economicly challenged. Yes, rents will be cheaper, but you might struggle to find a school you like and not hit it off with your neighbours. Some streets might be great, but as a newbie and a tenant, you might just settle on an unlucky street. Another thing to consider is your commute. Where will you be working? CBD? Go on http://m.transportnsw.info/jqm/en/index.html#trips. and plan your route. Edited October 24, 2014 by rozellem
Robbie_P
We lived in Rouse Hill, very close to the Ponds. The Ponds is a very nice, new clean area and the demographics are very good, so from that respect, i would give it the thumbs up.The only problem, for me, would be your daily commute if you worked in the CBD, which could quite easily be 1.5 hours from doorstep to doorstep. Nallan
The Ponds is great area - very affordable compared to other places in Sydney - you can take a bus to the city without any issues - lots of buses. Good schools as well.

Nallan
No worries , the Ponds is close to Kellyville, Stanhope Gardens, Glenwood - not too far from Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill , Rouse Hill, Bella Vista - the area has good schooling and parks . It is a little further away from the City but there are plenty of buses and the train is coming soon.
