Maligso
Hi. I have been given two quotes for financial emigration - from Exchange4free and Cashkows. The price difference between the two is significant. What are your experiences with both?I am not sure I am comparing apples with apples...Kind regardsMaligso
MyTimeNow
Hi MaligsoI've recently gone with cashkows. My main reason, and yours may be different, was that the gentleman I spoke to on email and via telephone has always been extremely helpful, patient and kind. He followed through when he said he would do something, and they are very helpful and thorough in explaining some of the very complicated financial stuff to me. He even took the time to understand me, my life, circumstances and story. They have been extremely good thus far, the rest will happen once I land in Australia.Since I'm single and have no really difficult financial things e.g. timeshare, shares in a business etc, their quote also came down further. So far, I have been more than happy with cashkows. Perhaps my opinion is lead more by my emotions (evidenced from their kind manner and patience in explaining these financial things to me), but I have only heard good things, and experienced good things thus far. This kind of support (from a financial company no less ) has become quite important to me, since I'm on this journey alone.Hope it helps!
gouwgouw
Maligso, also try FX Capital. They give you personal service with the best possible rate. I got quotes from all the forex agents and was able to negotiate further with FX. Speak to Tim.
Maligso
Thanks. Werner from Cashkows was excellent and I can see they would provide an excellent service with no problems, the issue is the quote or R26,000 for two of us compared to R9,000 from Exchange4free. I can't convince my wife (and myself at this stage) that R17,000 more is worth it?!So I was hoping someone would tell me they have used Exchange4free and were very happy with their service. They seem to offer the same service though Cashkows are advising me their process is more seamless for me, but even if it is I can't justify the R17,000 difference! Happymigrant
We used Cashkows and were happy with the fees because they were super good. They did everything, completing the application forms so that it is done correctly, done our tax (even got tax back) good advice, very professional. They did not ask us to get our own tax clearance which helped when SARS audited us. Documents were couriered and that was included in the fee. Fee is only payable at the end, it gave me confidence that if they are not doing it the quickest way, they also wait for their money. They are very professional and knows their stuff... I can recommend them any day.

monsta
I assume you are trying to formally immigrate? If so, ask yourself if you really need to do that. I have a family full of charted accountants, that was one of the first questions they all asked me.I just cashed out my pension, sold my apartment and transferred it to my bank account in Aussie before I left. I just took plane tickets to my bank and they did the transfer. Apparently I was taking a deluxe holiday to Sydney. Also, I am apparently planning go back to RSA one day to work and pay taxes. My only hassle was with SARS. They were quite fine with me, until my dad told them I was due a refund. They don't like the word refund!! They just stalled and stalled. They wanted more and more documents proving I was working in Aussie. Basically I had to explain why I only worked for 2 months of the tax year in RSA. But eventually they paid out.The down side to my situation is I need to fill in an nill RSA tax return each year. But I like having another connection back to RSA. I have become quite romantic about RSA while I have been far away.
Maligso
Hey monstaThe only reason I need to do it is to be able to cash in my RA's. I am cashing in everything now (provident preservation funds & shares) and then that cash along with the sale of our house will all be transferred over, then once I am in Aus I will do the formal emigration and will then be allowed to receive my RA's as lump sums.
SurferMan
I just cashed out and left. No point alerting the thieves that another cash cow is crossing the meadow. But my situation was different. For RA's etc, I understand.
Shampoo
I see that you are still in SA. It is a very simple process to do it yourself. Two visits to SARS and 3 to your bank. Once out the country, you will have to rely on emigration services and pay R10k to R20k to do it for you.So do it before you leave. I did and saved a pretty sum.
