Hey, does anyone know if 457 visa holders can claim back on after school care

No unfortunately, on a 457 you get very little as you probably know. To claim the child care rebate on after school care you have to be eligible for the child care benefit. To be eligible for the child care benefit you must meet the residency requirements as follows:


"To be eligible for Child Care Benefit you must satisfy residence requirements. You, or your partner, must be living in Australia and:

• have Australian citizenship, or
• hold a permanent visa, or
• hold a special category visa, or
• hold a certain temporary visa type for example a partner provisional, interdependency or temporary protection visa

Alternatively to the general residence requirements set out above, you may meet residence requirements for Child Care Benefit if you are:

• a student, or your partner is a student, from overseas sponsored by the Australian Government to undertake a course of study in Australia, or
• suffering temporary hardship or special circumstances exist

You must meet the residence requirements on the day you lodge your claim.
You or your partner must continue to meet the above residence requirements for as long as you get this payment."
