Neels
We attended an Awards Diner last night hosted by SANBS (SA National Blood Service) where they awarded medals and gifts to Blood Donors who achieved various milestones. I was awarded a Silver Medal for achieving 100 donations (currently on 103) in November of 2013.As per usual almost all conversations always ends up with our plans to immigrate to Australia. Does anybody know about donating blood in Australia? (Around Melbourne, VIC) I never gave it much thought before and would like to get your insights on the subject please?
Sunnyskies
Our office is part of a regular blood drive.Don't worry we may have a low road death toll but we are still short of blood. Blood bank draculas will be keen for your blood!
OnYellowBrickRd
The Blood Service is very visible. During the holidays they have mobile stations at most supermarkets in the parking lots. Don't worry. You will be able to easily find a place to donate. Good on ya for giving without expecting anything in return
Mara
Neels there is a mobile bus that comes to Sunbury. My husband is a blood donor. When it is his time to give, they send him a letter stating the date and place where the bus will be parked. He goes in the evening and gives his blood donation. That is how easy it is. I am sure it is just as easy elsewhere.I must give thanks for all those donors, there have been a couple of times in my life lately that I may not have made it if it wasn't for them!
rozellem
Welcome, I am also a blood donor ( nowhere near 100 though!). They are pretty organised here. Look at this link. http://m.donateblood.com.au
Neels
Ah Great news then. Thanks all. Heard that when you're from Africa you can't donate there.

Neels
Nope, but if you lived in the UK during the Mad-Cow outbreak you cant. "Mad-Cow" - is what's happening to my wife at the moment. (the stress of not knowing is getting to her (us)) I hope they won't hold that against me..
