Where do I buy a decent bed

Hi everyone! Now that the job is sorted, it is time for me to upgrade my inflatable mattress to a decent bed. But where would be best place be to look (in Melbourne) for the best quality for the best price. I am aware that beds are very expensive...

Shop online for a brand you want and them go to Snooze or Forty Winks and get them to match the price.

Remember that you will sleep on it for 10 years so make sure it is the right bed for you.

If you don't know what you want go into Forty Winks work out what you want and then do as above.

Arno try & look for sales & specials. Snooze & Forty Winks are popular.

We recently bought a Serta & it's the best matress we've ever had.

Always ask if they have floor stock for sale. Our new bed was priced ar $4500 new, but we got it for $1950 as it was floor stock. This was at Harvey Norman.

What on earth do you need a bed for....?!? :jester: We got our bed at 40 Winks for 2500, Its a great bed, but showing some signs of wear n tear. (Now I know B is going to rip into me here!) One tip, keep a Excel somewhere you say that you "turn" the mattress once a month, or you cannot claim on it if it breaks or dies while under warranty.....

Slightly off topic, but this the reason we bought brand new matresses here and shipped them. We tend to be sleep hogs, so buy the best we can, which for us is Simmons, but found when comparing they were 3-4 times the price in Aus, I think just buying the 2 singles and queen offset the cost of our entire container!

Snooze people know how to bargain!

We got our base from ikea and the matress from Snooze. Just try not to convert $ to R or you will need an ambulance to get you home

Hey Surferman - What does the guarantee include though- in my experience, a guarantee on a bed means nothing.

We contacted the manufactures and retailer of our bed which had a 10 year guarantee - it seemed to lose support a lot quicker than you would expect.

They basically told us - if the springs aren't popping out, stabbing you in the back, then the bed, as far as they are concerned, is fine. :(

How many of us keep a bed until the springs pop out?

Unless the guarantee is very specific and measurable, I wouldn't pay too much attention to it.
