TeeTMI
Just in case of interest DIBP have updated/clarified their policy for the occupation "Retail manager".As with all skilled occupations the DIBP have definitions and an expectation of the level of qualifications/skills/duties that would be expected in the nominated position. Policy guidelines have recently been updated for the occupation of Retail Manager (General). This occupation primarily involves organising and controlling the operations of a retail trading establishment. To be nominated and approved under this role an individual must hold a position of primary responsibility, a high level decision making role, within the establishment, and not report to other managers within the establishment. For example if you are a shift manager (even where you position title may be 'retail manager') who reports to an overall store manager you would not meet the requirements for this position. TeeTMI
Most of the occupations in the Retail Manager Unit Group require an AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma. In some circumstances, e.g. if you did not require a skills assessment, at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications. However, if you were applying for a visa that needed a skills assessment you need to meet the qualification and experience requirements of the assessing authority.
